  • Will have to pass this week.
  • I think I must have the wrong address. I am on Wolfdale, but can't find 3350. Can someonesend me the correct address and/or a phone number to get directions.
  • It's 3550 Wolfedale Road, west side, same building as the Tremendous Chinese Restaurant. Good luck.

  • I realized my mistake. Thanks.
  • Congratulations to Chris, BlondeFish's nephew, on his win tonight. He will be going to
the Sept 7 $120 NLH tournament at BRANTFORD CASINO. We had a total of 17 players.

Next Friday on Sept 12, we will be playing for the Sept 14 $150 Bounty to BRANTFORD CASINO. We signed up 5 new GOLD MEMBERS on Friday and have a total of 41 GOLD MEMBERS. It's growing.
  • If only I knew how to play poker back when I was at university studying Comp Sci like him now. It's time to do a Vulcan Mind Meld...

  • Quick trip report :
17 tourney players as Bill said.
13 went for the extra $20 side bet. We agreed this would be for 1st,2nd,3rd this time since it was a smaller freeroll. 1st would get the ticket plus 130.
    Sandy snagged 3rd.
Chris had a 3:2 chip lead HU and wanted to play Brantford so I took the 5 freeroll entries plus a bump in 2nd cash and he took the ticket and a bit less than 2nd place money.
SniperBoy and SniperDad came out for the cash game!
More new players points to a positive outlook for the future of Bill's game!

  • 2 hands I remember from the tournament :
I got a walk in the BB with AA when we were 3-handed. Surprisingly tilt inducing.
I took out Sandy with A8 AIPF vs Kx and I flopped 2pr.

I think I had KK 5 times overall. Only lost with them once in the cash game against SniperDads slow played AA but bill made up for that later when he stationed QQ against another KK .

Lots of fun! Cash game broke up around 2:30.

Thanks again for setting this up Bill!

  • Is it next Friday yet?
  • My father should make an account here called sn1perdad. I like it!

Thanx bill for the game, great game and lots of fun, good to see you all.
  • Here's an update I got from the freeroll winner: 93.8K chips with 15 left, 47K average.

  • Cool! Way to represent! They paying 8 or 9?
  • I was told there were 70 players, and only 7 get paid.

  • As long as he can avoid the Milo Effect, he's good to go . . .

At 70, 8 get paid. They do # of tables +1.
  • The only thing that bothered me at this game was when the antes were in play. Table 1 had no idea they were in play when Table 2 (the one I was on) were putting in the antes. This happened for 1 level which sorta gave table 1 an advantage chips wise.

This is a matter of perspective.
  • These are the growing pains of being so successful. I'm sure it will all get smoothed out as they get more accustomed to bigger fields.

There was actually no chip advantage for table 1, but it did make it easier for them to make the FT as the shorter stacks didn't have as much pressure on them.

But then wouldn't those players actually be at a disadvantage because their stacks would on average be lower?

  • Average stacks at each would remain unaffected in the absence of player movement.

The distribution of chips would be affected, insofar as the shorter stacks get whittled down quicker than at the table without antes, and have to make a move sooner. This, in turn, will increase the average stack at the table through the elimination of a player.

This is why the short stacks at table 2 were at a disadvantage compared to those at table 1, but the table as a whole was not disadvantaged.

This makes a bunch of really bad assumptions

I see it as a disadvantage being at the table without the antes. The reality is, there is net no difference in the two. The difference is in the playing styles of those at the table.
  • Besides the ante issue, I had fun at the game and I plan on making more trips to Bill's.
  • Are you suggesting that a 15BB stack having to pay 2.5BB per orbit instead of 1.5BB is not worse off?

Of course there are assumptions made like variances in playing styles, and that will affect the situation, but in the aggregate, the short stacks are at a disadvantage by having to pay antes when others do not.

Actually, it's more accurate to say that those short stacks not paying the antes were better off, as the antes had, indeed, kicked in.

    in.

Yes. If you look at it from a perspective of value gained vs. Value lost, there is merit in saying someone who knows how to use a 15bb stack is better off at the table with antes.

If you're chilling waiting for aces, of course the disadvantage is there.
