NO BCPC or WSOPC in Vancouver this year.

River Rock Casino Resort Pulls the Plug on BC Poker Championships | PokerNews

Haven't played any poker in a few months and not a fan of tournaments.. but was actually thinking about playing a couple events of the WSOPC this year.. oh well.. guess not to many options out here right now.

  • sounds like one of the other casino's can / will pick it up....didn't Cascade run something usually just before the BCPC in the past?
  • While the WSOP and River Rock have told Canadian tournament players to f*** off, :p the newly-renovated Hard Rock Casino Vancouver will have a series in 2015. Hopefully, it will have online satellites available so players from Ontario, etc. can support it.

    Tell me more.

Hard Rock has had a few mini series as did Edge.. but Hard Rock does not have the room to host a WSOPC series that is for sure.

  • I believe Hard Rock has access to their theatre if they were to hold a major series, so they have space. Their downfall is the lack of an attached hotel, but a free shuttle to a partnered hotel would solve that. Cascades has no interest in promoting poker whatsoever. Will we see WPT in Vancouver soon to fill this void?
  • Any chance Fraser Downs and Edgewater will have their usual yearly series? Obviously not WSOPC or BCPC but a viable option. Will PlayNow/Escape do their own online series?
  • WSOP at the Hard Rock would be awesome. Much closer to me than the River Rock. I'm not sure that they would have the space for a large tournament though.
  • I don't think you'll see WSOPC returning, the vibe I'm getting in industry. Too expensive. BCPC was a great event hopefully they find an alternative. Now with that said, Calgary now has TWO casinos with attached hotels and theaters, so maybe players in the West will see a return to it's glory days
  • When I spoke with Seth Palansky, he suggested they were working on still trying to add a Canadian WSOP Circuit event to this season, or at least to the next season. I think the Circuit will be back. Not in place of BCPC and not at River Rock, but I think they will return somewhere in the country.

Pretty sure the "big event" Hard Rock is talking about for early 2015 is a DeepStacks.

This industry moves so fast. Just when I'd be ready to bet the farm, always a curveball...I like your info though
  • First WPTDeepStacks event in Canada, with online satellites? ^-^

That'd be pretty great, but I wouldn't hold high hopes that WPT can get past BCLC to make it happen. Likely just DeepStacks without the WPT.
