Virtual Poker Tables - OLG

Anyone have a chance to play the virtual poker games yet at some of the Ontario racetracks or casinos ? I played at Mohawk last week and I was pleasantly surprised at the action and the technology. Of course there were a couple of small complaints I had with the default settings but overall the experience is very good. Definitely beats having to deal with slow dealers and bad attitudes.
I can see these machines catching on in the future.

  • Played at olg slots at Georgian downs, played a couple years ago as well in casino de Montreal when they still had them. I like it. Primarily because Georgian downs is a 5 minute drive as the closest casino is about 45 mins.

I think they rake quite a bit, only $5 max @ 1/2, but being electronic you get much more hands per hour which also means there is a lot more money coming off the table every hour.

Overall fun experience, I was hoping it would be more like online, being so that "live poker is rigged" and online isn't. But quickly found out that this plays very similar to a live setting and is also rigged. At least for the time being.

Edit: also. Lol on the $0.25 or whatever is was rabbit hunting feature. Seen lots of ppl with stacks involving cents so I guess it pays off for the casino
  • They'll definintely catch on, especially in venues like race tracks (and already in cruise ships). There's little training and no paying of dealers. One pit boss can run the whole show. The swiping of your card to register yourself is very cool and again reduces the need for staff.

I believe the rake is 10%/$5 max per hand, but it actually rakes a little bit more then Casino Niagara if you think about all the partial dollars collected.

The action is faster then live, but I don't like how some of the action selection works. It's annoying that you can't fast fold and must wait until your turn. I wish it was more like online in that sense.

I played at Mohawk a few weeks ago and it was fun. Was totally card dead, but the action was good and there was a lot of money to be had. It's nice playing a $1/$2 game without the travel time to Niagara.

I do miss playing with chips and the sounds of the poker room...
  • Poker is coming to Woodbine on Friday October 26th. We're working on our opening strategies now such as tournament schedules, offers etc. The room will feature 11 poker tek poker tables + 1 black jack table and will operate 24/7. Let me know your feedback on your experiences at other sites and what you would like to see in the room.

Think about that for a sec... I for certain would be watching who is fast folding after me, would be relatively easy to pick up on.. Would make my decisions a lot easier...;)
  • Costanza is a virtual poker player...maybe this could be his thing?
  • Except that he is "in BC" now . . .
