  • Ya, we gathered that...about a week ago. Deal was set up by Jason March. Announcement was made at WSOP ME.

Everybody in the know knew this was happening about 2-3 weeks before that.

    Ty Junior!

  • You can say what you will, but I would not post anything until the deal is signed.
    That happened on Friday

Of last week? And yes that's probably why I didn't start rumor mill and look oh so smart when it went through and when the details become available you will be able to find them here. A few of a regular members will also have and won't need to redirect to another site.

I also think its pretty awesome that they are having their own private party for 2 rings. Sounds "worldly" and "Canadian" to me.

    BCSOP?
  • lol jon what are you going off about here?
  • Nothing real, just trolling the guy with a post count of 6, all promotional that posts "news" without seeing we already had an active thread a week ago on topic...

    Bored really.

Plus I will continually bust the west coast guys balls about these 2 PlayNow tourneys, dumbest idea ever. I am pretty sure if the situation was reversed, they would go apeshit.

    Again, bored

Still under discussion on whether QC will be in on those rings..but definitely no Albertans allowed. :p
  • "I brand you chicken for life" Homer Simpson in the Simpson movie
  • Contacted BCLC on your behalf, jontm to ask why Quebecers are permitted to play on Playnow. Simply put Quebec and BC lottery corps have worked out some sort of deal to do it. Manitoba is also working on doing the same. Suggest you and your poker pals lobby Alberta Lotteries to do like wise and you can play too.
    Best of luck

  • Wat?

I am well aware that Espacejoeur and PlayNow are basically skins in same network, as Quebecers also won seats to last years BCPC's and they share the BBJ...as for Manitoba, wrote this up about 6 months ago, but believe Ontario is up next in line. Saskatchewan Gaming has made positive statements towards being pro provincially regulated sites and as far as Alberta goes, oddly enough we expect they will be the last to get on board.

They are very anti-online in their regulations right now and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.

Of what I gather, each province may or may not get onboard what BC and QC have going, or will choose more of an intra-provincial network, isolating themselves from them other anyway. This will most likely never be a country wide network.
  • Hmm, the provinces managed to get it together and nationalize 6-49 and Lotto Max, so they should be able to work out a similar sort of arrangement for Poker. Just gotta wanna do it.

I see the Maritimes are buying into some British treasure hunt thing that flopped over there. When will people figure out buying anything from the Brits is a waste of money.
  • Also, this is a bit gross...good thing WSOP has built up it's image....

Via Allen Kessler, WSOPC standardize event info page concours:

"Actual wsopc new rake is $300+65, $500+80, $1500+175, last year was $291+64, $485+80 and $1455+145. This year apparently no 3% or addon."

So for the main event for example. Take 3% off the $1455 which is like $44 so last year total rake was $189 so this year the rake is less with $175?
  • Yes lower, but still the highest MTT rake in Canada...weeeee

Brand power. You and I prob won't agree here, my wife and I don't even, so will most likely leave it at that...almost. I just don't see how a player beating 350 players in a $550 in Regina and getting a ring and tons of cash is not = to or > than beating less for less somewhere else.

I think both wins are wins and deserve huge kudos, but disagree that one is worth paying much more for. Bren is about bragging rights likes you, which has its purpose, but I am about making cash.

This is why I would rather BAP a player I think is much better than play myself, but so far playing weaker players at various local home games has been still been twice as profitable ROI wise...but with zero glory.

However, I chop way more than most and short stack or play limit cash so I hardly have the same potential for a huge score as those with yours and my wife's views and when push comes to shove I know my day job hourly is close to a better $2/$5 players win rate, so I'm more of an investor/tourist than player.

    Anywhoo...I digress.

Will probably play the first event.

Lists 10, the other 2 the online ones I assume
  • The other 2 are on line, no word yet on the dates.
Will post here when I have confirmation of dates.

  • Would love to view your schedule, can you post direct link please? Nice site, but I click here takes me to home page>major events>WSOP river rock>casino profile page>casino>poker room> redirects to August river rock site.

Maybe good for your page views, but doing little to show me content related to OP.

EDIT: ok. Mobile half issue. I should be able to get there on your site by clicking, home page landing>major events>river rock on calendar.

4s or Pad not so much.

  • Sats will start on Playnow come September. Was kind of hoping for earlier for reasons that Jonboy posted in regards to the wpt (ie:getting guaranteed numbers bigger).

At least we still have those two rings ;)

Looking to get the online info nailed down this week. Asking our buddy Spindler. You have anything?

That is all the info I got from Steve..starting Sept. Granted, that was a week ago so he may have more info now. I am too busy bitching about the lack of decent guarantees that start at a reasonable hour in the West...lol
  • F&$k really? 1) smoke bong 2) Water the crops 3)smoke bong. 4) turn on computer 5) smoke bong 5) play pokerz 6) buy more lightbulbs while playing pokerz 5) smoke bong

Notice no mention of time? It's BC, you'll find time.

I guess you guys keeping the rings is only fair, after all the CAnadian Deerfoot Poker Tour kept a couple of yours...

Why Shouldn't the World BC Series of Playnow Poker keep us out?
  • We promises to send you all our transient, unemployed snowboarders for the winter as a goodwill gesture though...

Obv no new info yet, so cheap attempts at humor and sacasim in the thread. I lived in Van and loved it and obviously I know not everyone is a pot head...it's a port city! Blow and Chasing the dragon are popular too ;p
  • Anywhoo, despite aggressive efforts to get early info from our guy and other requests through various people to marketing departments, won't get the official online info until next week. Will start a "clean", less derailed, shillish thread in online.
