    prob not racing......raise less though, hurts less when you have to fold.

    As I am starting to learn, raise less pre-flop. At this stage, just 2x will do. You get the same info as if you went 3x.

    Another thing I am learning, if you feel you are a better player than the rest of your table, don't gamble with them. You have 40+ BBs, not worth the risk at this stage.

    Smaller bets give you the same info as big ones, if you get played back at, fold (only if you were bluffing / c-betting). Especially at the $1 - $20 stakes.

    Min raises work at higher limit but i like 2.2x at the low limits just for esthetics if you are going to be agro it gives alittle more FE

    Normally don't play these...just a long game for little return most times...but I had time to kill last night while railing BTP abit, so I thought I would play. If I had thought about it for more than a few seconds, I would have concluded that racing here was not a great idea. The flop bet was sized due primarily to my position and the fact that I really hadn't played too hard for awhile (back to back AA holding up helps), so I should have forced myself to think it through more and folded here.

    He hit his K on the turn and wins with AK, my stack is reduced, and I donk off the rest a few orbits later when the blinds go up and I have ~22bb with KJo and get instacalled by A10s. And P*'s river A ends my night. Still tripled by buyin though.

    Playing this just reminds me that these $1 MTT's are soooo filled with bad play and the payouts are brutal, not making it a very wise use of 3-4 hours of my time.

    The title of this thread implies as you get further in a tourney 'racing' becomes the thing to do.

    I think people mix and gray definitions in this respect (although im still learning proper definitions myself).


    Racing: to most people this means getting all in pre. Some people they try and make it imply we are 'flipping' at 50/50.

    Coin-flip or Flipping: this should mean a 50/50 spot. But people actually use this for the term 'racing' and try to apply it to 45/55, 60/40, 43/57 spots etc.


    AJ vs 66 looks like a flip, even though everyone knows 66 is slightly ahead, but most intuitively know he just as well could have AJ and us 66 or whatever.

    However, if you look at the range you show up with, vs the range villain shows up with, there always be a clear winner.


    We want to race when we are AHEAD (and time doesn't exist).

    In this hand villains range crushes 55, so you should drop it from your range I think
