  • Why drop the November 9 ? From all accounts, it was hugely successful, great ratings, increased hype for the event.

I am interested in their reasoning.
  • Since the events can now be shown almost live with hole cards, there is no need for the long delay. The TV ratings have been dropping for the past couple of years, so ESPN will have to try something new.

  • excellent now i can search for a roommate for june 27th to july 6th (soft return date, hope to parlay into the main event) anyone else planning on being down there those dates?
  • Thank you Jesus no More Nov 9

Already did that 2 years ago..... well minus the cape.. Although I was only 10 min late.. :) You are right about playing hands in the first couple of hours though.. Folded AA 3 times preflop during that time.. ;)

    US election I believe
  • Final table is just moved up to Late October. Only 3 starting days for the Main Event.
  • Way better schedule for the main event, way too many off days in the past, and it just dragged on forever.
  • November 9 turned into October 9 being played on Oct 28-30 to avoid conflict with US election day
  • Seriously I will be there to Rail the Million dollar game...should be crazy.

    Classic Philliing us...cheer up sunshine
  • Really wish they would kill the break for the ME. Why kill the excitement that you built up all tourney, just to try and artificially recreate it again later?

Just let the players play . . .

Basically, they turn the FT into a SnG. All the "flow" from the Main Event is gone thanks to the delay.

100 percent right on the mark.:)
  • And with me almost finished that book by Phil Shaw, I will be ready should one of the FT players meet an untimely accident.

Wonder if they have a contingency for that? What does TDA say about dying during a break? Would be pretty embarassing if they were to blind off his stack, and the dead guy outlasted a few players . . .
Phil Hellmuth: Man, I was playing the best poker at the FT, I could have gone deeper, too. I was right there. Damn, I could have done better than 7th.
    Reporter: Didn't a corpse finish 6th?
PH: I was at the peak of my powers, too . . . and you want to talk about a dead guy? Seriously?
Reporter: I have heard you struggle with nits, Phil . . .
  • anyone see the exhibition events?!? im definately interested in the bracelet bounty for 560 and the doubles event at 560 also! both should be fun
  • I am not a huge fan of how they have spread the NL events, but I should also factor in that there will be some awesome Deepstack events going on as well.

I was interested in playing the $3k shootout event (#36) this year... But looking at the schedule I might settle for a Saturday $1.5k event and a Monday $2.5k event - events 43 and 46.

Still lots of time to change my mind...

I do agree but....what excitement are you talking about? If it's poker players I agree....if it's fans, most people watch the tourney as ESPN releases the shows. The November 9 allows them to ramp up the coverage till it hits the live show in November (or October this year). You and I already know who won in years past (before the Nov 9 years)...but the people that ESPN want are the casual fan who watches the episodes every week. Those people don't care as much that they're watching pre taped shows up to the November 9...but it does give them an event to focus on and advertise for.

There will be tons of events around at Venetian and wherever else, so I wouldn't be too worried
