Micro Stakes

I'm talking buy-ins under $20

Is there any point in trying to read players or put them on a range ?

Ordinarily I fold both these hands, thinking the other players are beating me or I'd be flipping at best. But in these instances, the players are so bad that I was ahead.

When you are playing against so many unknown players and rarelt the same ones, how can you assign ranges to any one in micro stakes ?

  • 2nd one you can fold,the first is fine but you can fold too i think

    I think it comes more from their play in that specific tournament, rather than play in the past. So basically Im not making any hero folds/calls in these games due to my "reads". More using the reads to know who is a thinking player vs who is mashing buttons. Then adjust ranges appropriately. <---Something I struggle with.

    If we dont assign ranges, then what do we do??? Like I guarantee the guy who stacked off w KQ did something (prob many things) in that game that would have tipped me off that he was not a winning reg, and more likely a spastic fishy. Then when you see that, throw a quick note, even just apply a colour note to him...

    I think most of the time at micros, you just need to account for a MASSIVE spaz factor if you dont have any notes and its a random.
  • I think this is what btp has been yelling at me for a year now...

    Eq.
    Hand 0: 50.106% { AKo }
    Hand 1: 49.894% { JJ+, AQs+, AQo+ }

    now thats a very strong range and I think its way to tight (your hand here shows that too), but even here we can snap call, and in reality we are always doing better vs. villain range because we know he shows up with worse sometimes as well.

    equity
    Hand 0: 25.953% { ATo }
    Hand 1: 74.047% { JJ+, AQs+, AQo+ }

    Ato vs that same range doesn't do nearly as well, keep in mind tho thats just the nutted part of his range but in order to feel comfortable about a call....hes going to have to be quite wide.....

    equity win
    Hand 0: 48.118% { ATo }
    Hand 1: 51.882% { 77+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, A8o+, KQo }

    so we can't ever know what a randoms range is, or sometimes a fishy player we've played 200 hands with even, but if we look at the ranges on stove a lot of time we are able to make a fairly clear decision even though we can't have any confidence in our ranges.
