Poker Clubs in BC?
Hi There,
Was wondering if there were any laws against poker clubs like they have in Montreal in BC? BC has such archaic laws that I wouldn't be surprised if it were outlawed. But if it's not I'd really love to get things rolling.
I'm running for council in Whistler and I think that it would be a great economy booster but am unsure of the legality.
Cheers!

Check the Sunset Social Club located near the Corner of Hastings and Victoria in East Van. They are playing limit dealers choice games like 4 nights a week and it's apparently all completely above board thanks to their status as a members only club.
I don't know the specifics, but check it out, the guy who runs it plays in the 4/8 game at edgewater pretty regularly and seems happy to discuss it.
Small limit poker game dealers choice. So it's up to the dealer deal 7 Cards or 5 cards drow or Texas Holdem or Omaha
All the Casino plays only high hand poker and mostly Texas Holdem
I haven't seen any new news.
You're thinking of a different place.
573 East Hastings is just east of Main and currently contains this: DTES NH -Providing Services to Residents of Vancouver
The Sun Set Recreational Sports Club, which happens to be located in the exact same place as the Sunset Social Club is located at 1985 East Hastings.
Your one sentence contributions to this dead thread over the course of a month have been amusing to me though.
Originally the club was build in 2003 May, The Society was sold on summer of 2008 and they have moved to 1985 E Hastings.
I was one of poker players ever since, I don't go to the new location.
More specifically you were right once and I am right currently? If I have to I'll wander up there and shoot some pictures of the place. It's two blocks from my house.
Now most of guys are going to Casino and play the Texas Holdem.
Too bad with poor management the Sunset is a dying club.
Take care.
