Loose games and Variance

I noticed the following statement on RGP:
Generally a bunch of lambs (loose passives) can make for a very low variance high return game.

I would think that a loose-passive game would lead to a *higher* variance (and higher return) than a typical game.

Thoughts?

  • i guess the reasoning would be that if you have a run of bad luck, you'd be losing less with passive callers than with a more aggressive game.
