A Couple Hands..

I was playing in the $5000 Freeroll tournament on PP for new people who deposit. 2038 entrants. Top 220 pay.

Just want some thoughts on how you would play these hands I thought I might have messed up on, kind of long. Thanks.

1. This hand probably had about 70 people left. Whoopie61 just moved to the table 2 hands ago and hand not played anything. No read on her/him.

3. Opponent stacia0719 came in the table with about $40k and it dwindled down to his/her current stack. Never saw their hand actually go to a showdown so didn't know what they were holding. I saw a few missed steal attempts from them. About 45 people left in the tourney. Avg is well over $30k.

    'Switching you your play' means play different hands the same way.. Not play the same hand different ways. You gotta raise that hand.

    Whoopie61 bets [2000]. -> I put him on a Kx here.
    TiMSuM raises [4000]. -> Raised b/c I have a top kicker.

    Whoopie61 calls [2000]. -> Didn't put him on Heart draw.

    Whats up with the min betting? Raising the min with top pair isn't going to defend your hand. Also, when he calls your min raise, I think he still has flush draw odds, so no reason to think his original bet wasn't a semi-bluff..

    TiMSuM bets [2000]. -> Trying to define what kind of hand he has.

    Again, min better is allowing your opponent to get to the river as cheaply as possible. Plus the pot at the turn is still giving him great odds for a potential flush draw.
    2. Was this the right move to call the extra 3600? My initial raise put two people all-in already. The last guy Soonami51 did a re-raise all-in.

    Yes. yer getting great pot odds although you will probably lose.

    Eat your vegetables. That's a prime SB steal opportunity. Also, "Never go broke in an unraised pot" (I forget where I picked that one up from). You let the BB see the flop for free, so he/she/it's got anything. You are going to have to respect any raises, because the player has no real incentive to continue in the pot.
  • 'Switching you your play' means play different hands the same way.. Not play the same hand different ways. You gotta raise that hand.

    arent those the same things? i mean, playing different hands the same means that you have to play some hands different ways..lol :D

    anyway, i agree with this. you have to raise. especially if you dont have any reads on this new guy.

    scottyz mentioned this a couple days/weeks ago in one of my threads, and ive been thinking about it a lot during play. and if you dont know the guy, its probably better to raise with a good hand

    oh and,
    "Never go broke in an unraised pot"
