limit buy in

I usually play $4/$8 in casinos and generally when i get there I will buy in for the amount I am willing to play with for the night. This is generally $100 or $80. A few of my poker buddies go with the theory, buy in for the minimum amount of $40 and then rebuy should you have to. Do you think it has any advantage of buying in for a small amount compared to a larger amount??

This was a pretty decent thread relating to your question, take a look through, lots of information, even to buying in w/ a smaller amount as an advantage....

Personally , i buy in for about 50 BB (big blinds) so $100 for 2-4 LHE and $200 for 4-8 LHE

as for the buying in a small amount as an advantage, i would have to disagree, in the link i posted, someone mentioned that buying in w/ less than usual making them play tighter as they feel shortstacked......personally u shouldnt need to be shortstacked to play tight, you just need patience

    hope this helps :)

  • A good player can generally gain bigger advantages with chips than without.

    I think a $100 buy-in is not enough for $4/$8, let alone $40.

  • I haven't looked at the other threads but...

If you are a skilled positive expecation player, the advantages of being all-in will be more than offset by the advantages of winning every last chip you can from your weak playing opponents. So... buy in for lots and don't re-buy.

If you are a weak player who loves to play all suited cards and all connected cards then keep yourself short stacked and your bad draws will cost you a lot less.

Apparently I've got to re-think my buy-in amount...
