Announcements for Jour de Poker (Oct29)

Hey all,

Just a few announcements before I head off for the weekend!

1) Event #2 (Wed, Nov 3rd) is no longer a satellite for JdP2. Instead it will be a regular $5 Omaha Hi-Lo Limit event with cash payouts based on attendance. The first half hour will be devoted to going over the rules of the game and blinds will be reduced to 15 minute levels to make up for the time. So, if you're at trying a new game (or just simply love the game) come on out and give it a try. (Please RSVP)

2) Event #3 (Thurs, Nov 11th) is also no longer a satellite for JdP2, but instead will be "Bristol Street Classic XI" -> The usual $10 NLHE tournament that we're all used to. (one rebuy and payouts based on attendance.) If things going well with my computer this tournament will be a tryout for two things. First, this will be a test of running the tournament through two rooms. Second, we'll also play with a 10,000 chip count and blinds which closely match the WSOP blind structure. This will mean that (if the above two items are a go) that I'll be able to increase the capacity to 32 players. I'll send out an announcement later next week on whether this is happening or not. Basically I'm really hoping to use this as a dry run for JdP so that I can work out all the kinks before we get to Saturday.

3) Because of this, all seats reserved for Event's #2 and #3 will be opened up to players on the waiting list.

4) Event #4 is still a go, but I'm bumping up the max to 24 players (which means there'll be a max of 6 seats up for grabs. Please RSVP if you'd like a spot.

5) The STT reserves are being reduced to only 2. (With the free spots being opened to players on reserve) I'm considering running a turbo satellite the morning on JdP, but that may be too much poker for one day (...is that possible??). Look for an announcement soon.

6) I'm adding to the main thread two new symbols. ($) means the person has paid - either through winning a satellite, or getting me the cash right now. [x:xx] will indicate that the player will not be arriving until the specified time. If you do not have that beside your name, that means that I'm expecting you on time and will give up your seat if you're late.

I think that's about it!

  • Here's my proposed starting chip count and blinds schedule for a 10,000 chip event. Thoughts? Too few chips? Do I need to add antes? As with most tournamnets you expect it to end ~ when the BB equals the starting buyin. Note that the starting chip amount is based on the number I can supply to 32 people. Why do I have so many chips???

    Starting chips:

    12 x (25) = 300
    7 x (100) = 700
    4 x (500) = 2000
    2 x (1000) = 2000
    1 x (5000) = 5000

    Total chips: 26

    Blinds:
    25-50
    50-100
    100-200
    150-300
    200-400
    300-600
    400-800
    600-1,200
    800-1,600
    1,000-2,000
    1,500-3,000
    2,000-4,000
    3,000-6,000
    4,000-8,000
    6,000-12,000
    8,000-16,000
    10,000-20,000
    15,000-30,000
    20,000-40,000

Compared it my current schedule it's very gradual with lots of play (ideal for a 8-9tournamnet if the levels are 1/2 long), but also good for a 4 hour if the levels are 15 minutes.

the biggest jump look to be the 1,600->2,000->3,000, but I think at that point the chipstacks will require a good jump.

Should ante's be added in, or is that only really important for 300+ player tournies? Thanks for your input!

    Rob.
  • Id like a spot - how do I reserve one for the "big day"?
  • Myself (Clint O), Peter F and my other buddy Peter D would like to play on the 11th, if there is room.

    Thanks!
