More about the Regina tournament...

Dave,

Sorry to keep berating you with questions about the Station Classic... I'm pretty excited about it tho. It's coming up really soon!

I emailed Casino Regina and unfortunately didn't hear back, I also searched the web. Then I realized that maybe a 2-time winner would know the answers to my questions, or be able to direct me to them.

What are the rebuy/add-on policies for the limit and NL hold'em tourneys?
Also, how many starting chips do you get, and how many do you get to add-on?
Also, what are the levels like? Do they increase particularly quickly/slowly relative to the # of starting chips?
And finally, I read in one of your articles that the room is non-smoking. I prefer that, despite the fact that I smoke. How long and how often are the breaks for us pathetic smokers?

I realize that's a lot of info. to ask for... if you only want to take the time to answer one or two I'll understand lol. Thanks for your help.

  • I realized that maybe a 2-time winner

Three time winner... but who's counting.

What are the rebuy/add-on policies for the limit and NL hold'em tourneys?

    I am going from memory...

Limit hold'em. Start with $1000. Re-buy in the first level if $1000 or less. Second level $2000 or less. Third and fourth level $3000 or less. Re-buy gets you $1000 chips. Unconditional add-on gets you $2000.

No-limit is the same structure but with the a chip amounts being bigger ?($2000 starting?)

It is Tex's Tears format. You can get the details at pokerpages.com (http://www.pokerpages.com/pokerinfo/texstears/structures.htm).

There is never a double one level to the next. After the re-buy period the levels are 1/2 hour each.

    Every hour and a half.

Good luck. I will be arriving just before the stud tournament on Wednesday. Please introduce yourself.
  • Re-buy in the first level if $1000 or less. Second level $2000 or less. Third and fourth level $3000 or less.

Just to clarify, are the re-buys unlimited (as long as the appropriate maximum chips condition is satisfied)? And does each re-buy and and add-on cost the same (real money) as the original buy-in?

  • Yes re-buys are "unlimited conditional."

    In the 7-stud, omaha-8, and no-limit events the buy-in, re-buy, and add-on are all $100.

In the limit hold'em the buy-in is $200 but the re-buys and add-on are still only $100.
  • Thanks Dave. 3-time winner. My bad.

I'll be arriving on Thursday, early evening. I'll make sure to wander down to the show lounge to see your victory in the Omaha Hi-Lo tournament.

I'll gladly introduce myself. (Even if I didn't, I'd be easy to spot. I'd be the one sulking off to the side games at approx. 4:00 on Friday and Saturday...)

That is a crazy amount of re-buys/add-on's. It *almost* sounds like you can buy your way into the money! Of course, I'm mostly joking, but still... I guess the main consideration before re-buying or adding on would be: will this purchase give me a stack that is even close to the average?

  • I guess the main consideration before re-buying or adding on would be: will this purchase give me a stack that is even close to the average?

Generally what happens is that everyboday has more or less the same amount of chips after the re-buy period is over...

Under $3000 you re-buy until you are over (round it off to $4000) and then you take the add-on taking you to $6000. So... everyone has $6000 after the re-buy period. All the that first hour and half determines is how much your $6000 cost you?

I usually tell people to PLAN for $400/tournament ($500 on Friday). Sometimes you get a little lucky and get away cheaper and other times... well, let's not talk about other times...

I had 8 re-buys in the last local no-limit tournament. Gulp.
