What do you think?

This is not my hand, but I was surprised by the river check/check...does anyone else think that Sunny Equity HAS to bet that river?

Does anyone have a convincing argument for NOT betting it?

  • I don't have a convincing arguement for not betting the river given how the hand played out. I probably fire again at the turn and if called check it down. I don't see any harm in checking it down but given my style of play I don't see what it accomplishes either. I see more problems in not firing away on the turn, Sunny obviously thought the hand was best given the re raise and I don't see A6 calling that so I would fire one more bullet before I considered checking it down.
  • I'll go with a PP 77-99
the other guy called the flop reraise so he was afraid of the jack but yeah he has to bet.
The other guy has a busted something

I suck (wanna type that before I reply cuz it's prolly going to be completly false lol)

    Edit in white:
yep... I suck... lol wasn't even close :)
  • I think you have to unhide Sunny's holecards to answer this question, but no I see absolute no reason why that person shouldn't have bet.
  • it is pretty obv what he has..the second card rank *might* change by one
  • I would check this.

Based on the previous actions, what hands does Sunny Equity think NpSbEsTc4l has that Sunny Equity beats that would call a bet on the river?

If you bet, are you looking for a fold or betting for value? If you're looking for value, how much would you have bet if you were Sunny Equity?
  • Let see...given the way this hand played out, depending on Sunny's hand, he could bet for value or as a bluff. What is the read on NpSbEsTc4l? Does Sunny's hand have any value in showdown as played? Has NpSbEsTc4l ever check-raised any rivers? Without seeing the cards or any of NpSbEsTc4l's tendency..its hard to say.
  • well I don't want to be results oriented (since I got both their hands right) but I think you two are over-complicating this because you don't want to be wrong.

It is a $33 3-table, they're the most boring straightforward players on earth.

When I posted this I thought that I might be missing some train of thought, but now I'm pretty sure that it is just nit-fps

Maybe thats why you're Bristol St. champion and neither of us are not.

    So you both are?

It was so close to a sick burn. ;)
  • I don't usually play this high, ... actually I don't usually play tournaments but I'll take a crack at this...

Sunny Equity as a winning loose aggressive. He's played about 1600 tournaments usually about 30's and is up $6,100

NpSbSeTc4l I have little data on (only 16 tournaments) , he's about break even and usually plays the $20's.

nobody raised preflop, so an overpair is unlikely.
A lagish player raises into a better and caller on a pretty dry flop.
The only draw might be something like 78 but that's unlikely.

440 in the pot ... nobody want to bet, since pot commitment issues raises it's head.
it's unlikely either player has a flush draw or a A6 or 65.

I'm stumped here, I can't think of anything where this check/check makes any sense.

the river is about as blank as could be...42 or 47 is unlikely at this point.
Both players are happy to check down their hands.

Maybe if we've seen npsbestc4l check a strong hand to induce a bluff on the river in the past...

    nah.. i'm stumped.
