    Why not get a D8 player.

    It will upconvert you Hi8 to miniDV format. Plus it can play the Hi8 format.

    yes, you can get one from the source or maybe best buy, also you can get inserter, you place the hi8 tape to inserter and play it in vcr. if you have a vide in a hi8 tape and want to transfer it to dvd or vhs, let me know. i will do it for you, and if its just one tape NO CHARGE.
