Sunday Millions - Odd Play by 9th Place Finisher

If you made it to the final table in the sunday millions would you really risk calling off this much of your stack with QT off? At this point wouldn't his best play be to shove (for a bluff where you still have an okay hand) or fold pre-flop (leaning heavily towards FOLD)? The blinds are getting high, but I don't think they really are an issue for the player in this hand at this point. What do you think of this play?

Here is the hand I am referring to:

Comments

  • I agree, calling here is a bad play. With his M around 5, folding is the best option, but shoving wouldn't have been so bad.
  • Fold > shove > call pre

post flop, no way your folding
  • I watched the hand live and I was quite surpised he called the big stack with only Q 10? Obviously this guy is willing to take more risks than the average player and maybe that is how he got to the final table in the first place?

Maybe this is why I finnished 190th and 238th respecitively in the two Sunday Million's that I played. I am questioning my play right now maybe I am playing too tight?
  • It's hard to tell without reads.

I don't think shoving is a very good option here. I doubt big stack would raise and then fold to an all-in from M=5 guy. And again, without a good read, I would say QT would be behind most of the time. So have a second best hand and very little fold equity, it would make more sense to me to wait.

Calling here is not my cup of tea. Perhaps this is some stop-n-go thing where he was shoving pretty well any flop. But to me that would take reads that the blinds were tight and big stack would fold if he missed. Maybe not everyone subscribes to Harrington's shove or fold low M strategy.
  • my guess is this was the most he's every made. final table was good enough. i hit a Q so push it!

you'd be surprised how often this happens i think.
  • Maybe he was happy with 9th place money and wanted to go to bed.

Unless he makes 10k by sleeping that is a strange justification ;)

he shoulda just sitout and went to bed... I bet he would have finished like 6th or 7th by doing that lol
