Did I play this right?

Anyone have any expert analysis on this hand? I know I prob should have folded JJ preflop when villain made that raise with 2x my stack. Any thoughts, or just unlucky?

  • I am thinking next time I should reraise pre-flop to test his hand's strength.

    QFT..and fold to a push.

I guess if he flat calls, money is going in anyways in the flop..but..
  • Free advise Lesson #1:

There is no right way to play JJ

I hate JJ...strong enough to play, but can so easily beaten.

Your particular hand...reraise preflop...if he comes over the top, fold. If he smooth calls you, I would lead out on the flop. If he were to raise me here on that board I would definitely consider mucking. Only way not to get beat here is if he had you on pocket 10's.

    What he said.
  • At that stage in the tourney, I hardly ever use the call button preflop.
  • I suppose you could have re-raised pre - but if he shoves you, are you going to fold your JJ? That is really the only question.

If he flats your re-pop - you are getting in all in on that flop. And even with the way you played it, most of us are getting our money in on that flop. You just can't go around thinking people have AA and KK every time you have JJ. I don't see any major mistakes in how you played it, and I would guess the vast majority of ppl would go broke here. Unless you had a massive read on the KK player its just v.hard to get away from this situation.
  • Treat JJ like 22. Raise out with it preflop if you can do so without committing yourself but fold to strength.
  • LOL. I thought the title was a reference to the banning/censoring stuff.

But JJ? No, don't ever play JJ passively unless you are up against a compete donkey. And even then, don't.
  • Why did you flat call? And if it is because the guy was playing super-tight...why did you shove? (Sincere questions so we can give you feedback ..what you've done is justifiable, but insight into your plan for this hand will help)
