Play this ok? or did I just get lucky?

Yes, we're playing for pounds...
I feel dirty because I chased... but I had Aces. I think I would have layed them down on the turn if there had been a bet. Would this have been correct? (assuming my King outs are possibly a split pot)

  • geez what happened to the font size?

if you can read this, you're driving too close!

    hork.
  • I think you played it fine. Nothing wrong with betting out on the flop. You might already losing, but it's a little too soon to give up on this hand I think. Besides, you have a nice action re-draw. A weak draw to be sure, but a King falling for you will probably mean you get paid off by a lot of losing hands that had also improved.

Nice check-raise on the river, but betting out yourself would have been a valid option. Your opponents were dim enough to bet their straights into the high-card paired board. This is typical low-limit for you. Few people with big hands ("Yes! I've got a straight") pause to consider the bigger hands that may be out there. Many treat any hand that beats 2 pair as the cold nut stones. (to further warp a great Van Patten-ism...)

The only really debatable call was the one you didn't have to make on the turn. Look how nicely someone else's free card play worked out for you. ;)

  • Oh yeah,

    Nice Hand

  • Nice hand, well played. Like Scotty said, the fact that you didn't have a decision on the turn made it easier, and I love that you had the wherewithal to go for a river checkraise... you knew that someone would bet that river, and you didn't have much time to come to that conclusion, being first to act.

    Cheers,
