March Canadian poker player mag

I just received the March CPP magazine compliments of Mr. Sloth and Dave Scharf, (75 posts eh) and like the last two issues it rocks!

Good news bad news: I read in the mag about a tourny coming up at the Port Perry Casino April 7 04. I am pump! :D
It is a Wednesday! :x WTF? Wednesdays are important days for me to be working. :( So I call the Casino and there are spots available but I have to register in person! :x No over the phone credit card reservation thingy possible.( I have only played cards once at a casino so I am not familiar with the program.)
So I will need to drive past Toronto (You may have heard of it, it is a huge fucking city that does not have a freaken card room!) 1-1.5 hours away just to register, then do the same while taking a day off work if I want to play in the tournament.

Anyway I digress. Thanks for the subsrciption guys I love the mag! The more I learn the more I learn how much there is to learn, it's incredible. I am driving my wife nuts talking about poker all the time.
If you guys ever want to join my game let me know and you are in! :) I can always find room for a celebrity. We play this coming Monday and bi-weekly from there.

Thanks again!

Once again, evidence of that super-dooper customer service to be found at all Ontario poker rooms.

I can maybe understand them not wanting to accept credit cards specifically (because of the fee they would have to pay the credit card company), but there must be *some* way to do it. It's probably easier (and less expensive when you take gasoline for the car into account) for to send them *cash* by courier. Or they could be willing to accept cheques (well enough in advance for them to clear) or money orders.

The casino I sometimes go to takes phone reseravtions for cash games (gasp!) and allows you to buy tickets for their major tournaments over the internet (gasp!). Clearly this is not an Ontario casino. :)

I asked them if there is any easier way and she told me that I have to register in person with a drivers license for i.d.
If they were so inclined all they would have to do is reserve your spot with an approved credit card # for $120, and when you show up, you pay in cash and they do not process the credit card transaction.
Obviously they are doing well enough not to bother with this extra hassle. :(
  • is there anyone on here from the burlington/oakville area?
i'm trying to find a place that sells the magazine, but no luck so far.

don't they know? can't they see the market? chapters here sold out of super system in about 5 days...5 copies, but still for a book that price...

anyway, anyone know where i can get my hands on it?
i would really like to get the march issue if it's still around

    thanks
  • My soucres tell me that pretty much every Canadian casino will carry a copy of the magazine. I don't know if they're still going to have their March issues, though...I'm sure Dave can tell you if they do back-orders or not.
  • thanks for the suggestion...i'll check there.

i was also wondering, when did this publication start?
how many issues have there been?
