limit poker

I just started playing holdem poker anout 8 months ago. All of my play has been on the internet at poker stars. I only play no limit. Last night i went to blue heron casino and played 5/10 limit holdem. I sat down with $500 in chips and strted to play. I found the biggest diffrence was that i could not bet people out of pots. I had pocket KK flop comes up with a third K to give me trips. But there also is a flush draw or straight draw, how do u get people out. If u bet the $5 they just call u allthe way to the river and if u dont bet they just check. In no limit u god make a bigger bet to make them pay to see the cards. I dont know but i wasn't a fan of limit poker. I did however end up $250 and paid for a seat in the tournamen on oct 6. This will be my very first tourny live. Any tips on how to play. Thanks alot guys for the help.

You don't get people out. Period.

You bet for value, and get paid off. Big time. Do *NOT* make the mistake of not betting your good hands "because they will call you anyway". Bet your good hands for precisely that reason.

Play an almost mind-numbingly straightforward game. You have never heard of bluffing or slowplaying. Your opponents have never heard of bluffing or slowplaying.

You'll make the serious money in low-limit because your opponents will *severely* overvalue their hands pre-flop and on the flop. Sure, they will make the occasional crazy outdraw by chasing a pocket underpair to the river, but every time they chase such a draw they are making horrific mistakes, and sending out wave after wave of EV to the other players at the table. They will miss these draws often enough for it to be profitable for you.
