Let hope one of your horses come through.

Would be nice to go but works too busy. My next fallsview trip is November 25. Finally have a day off to use the free comped room. It would be nice if the PLO runs. I will try to get it going
  • There's a bunch of dealers and Red Shores regs heading 'down' to Montreal. Mention my name if you meet anyone from PEI!
  • Updates guys ? How you guys doing. ?
  • Hey everyone - I'm brand new to the forums... referred by my buddy Neil who uses them. I just got back from Montreal. Was down for a week or two. Min cashed the wild $150 in 109th place out of roughly 1200 players for only $280, and then came 2nd place in the $220 freeze event for $4,250. I also came 3rd in a nightly $110 tournament the day before the festival for about $1,400 or so.

I've mostly grinded cash games most of my life, but have now gotten into the tournament poker scene. This was realistically my second festival, and I only played 5 tournaments and cashed 3 of them... with one 2nd and 3rd place finish in there! The only two I didn't cash in were the $550 freeze and the $330 survivor.

In addition to what's on Hendon mob, I've also cashed in several other events that didn't qualify for Hendon mob, such as in Brantford, and a few in Singapore and Macau as I was living there for the past 2 years!

Very interested in the world of staking in poker to reduce risk, and spread the money around with smart investors! I'm new to the site - so you might not know me yet... but I have lots of players that will vouch for my skills!

Look forward to catching up with some of you in the near future!

    Cheers,
    Taz
  • Congrats on the cashes. Nice job!

  • Congrats but don't get used to that cash ratio. Neil is a great guy. Welcome to the forums.
  • My horse didn't do very well but my good buddy Marty Raus is in the final 27 of the Main Event..... sending some run good.

Welcome, tazmalik. Swaps, BAPs, etc. are great ways to reduce the sick variance of MTTs. I bought 50% of one horsey and he cashed. One of my roommates swapped with me so he got some cash.

In one event, a reg proposed a bubble donation but with the charity coming from the first and second place prizes; all the Playground chipleaders unanimously agreed to light their money on fire, :o as usual. When we got down to the final six, the same reg brilliantly proposed an ICM-based deal that would give a lot more than Playground's minimum 2% extra (for first place), but spread out between 3rd, 2nd & 1st so it would benefit him as a shortstack. After the other four players eventually got an idea of what ICM means, I was pleasantly shocked that the dominant female chipleader with half the chips agreed to the lopsided proposal, :o donating a lot of EV to all of us shorter stacks.

I was going for the win and the Champions' Freeroll, but in the short run, anything can happen and when my AK lost to the reg's JT all-in, I ended up in 4th place. The reg continued to rungood and won the trophy. While he is great in negotiating all kinds of deals, including a record 26-way deal at Playground, :o in this one case, he ended giving up the most, as he first donated part of his first-place prize to the bubble boy, then gave extra money to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers with his proposal, then ended up with less money than the female chipleader who only finished in third place. I actually got more money for fourth place than the second-place finisher! :D

With all the strange deals I've seen at Playground, I now know what my next article will be for Casino World Magazine. There are over 600 players flying to the Caribbean Poker Party, :wav: but if the cash game rake is high, I'll head to the beach and finish the article. That's if Royal Flush Girls Caitlyn and Danielle aren't too distracting:

  • There were around thirty players :O who flew all the way from the Maritimes! As players chatted in my table, the Montreal players realized that they were outnumbered by all the East Coast and usual GTA invaders. I mentioned JohnnieH and one guy did say he knows you.

For sure! I know that the variance always catches up! I was running pretty well for most of the events I played, but ran into a couple of sick coolers with second nut flush to nut flush (2 in hand obviously), and set over set which cost me a lot of chips! Nonetheless - I'm happy with the results, and am looking forward to the next events in Montreal in January, and the WPT Niagara at Fallsview in February!

I'll probably play some events at Brantford and the RFS's that are being discussed as well in early December!

Looking forward to getting to know the guys and gals in this forum a little better over the coming months!

    Cheers,
    Taz
  • Oh and good luck to anyone out in Punta Cana!! Bring home those trophies to Canada!!!
  • Nice - and yeah, the variance of MTT's can be a killer!
  • Welcome to the forum Taz! There are a lot of good folks here many of which I've become friends with through poker. I met Taz at Brantford I think, and we have played together at Fallsview, Montreal WPT and WSOPc at Casino Montreal.
