CNE and Tournament Schedules
TLDR: lots of tournament choices coming up.
I went to the CNE Casino yesterday, so if anybody has questions, I can try to answer. I was asked on Facebook about the CNE tournaments, which continues to be the only NLHE game available. Unfortunately, it is the same $100 + $20 hyper-turbo Bingo crapshoot with 1K starting chips but 17% rake. :arghh: They are almost as hard to beat as the US open tournaments with 30% taxes + rake + 35% currency exchange on expenses.
Here are the dates for the donkament finals: August 10, 17, 24, 31, and September 3.
These dates are in direct conflict with the games I wanted to play, so I'm trying to figure out which to prioritize and which to give up.
August 3: GBH $225. Missing too many GBH would jeopardize my defense of KOC Championship.
August 7: Play online every Sunday, incl. GPPT.
- Woodbine $330
- Brantford $330.
August 8: Rama $300.
August 10: My friend and I will be playing the first CNE semi-final at 13:00.
August 14: Online Sunday; GPPT only if can cash more than once.
August 17: GBH $550 that DirtArse & I were planning to play.
- CNE semi-final.
Aug. 18 - Sept. 14: World Cup of Cards (WCC)
August 18: WCC
- Brantford $230.
August 21: Online Sunday
- WCC $185 CPPT Satellite, 20:00.
August 22: WCC
- Rama $300.
August 24: WCC $170 Quantum Day 1c
- CNE semi-final. I'll have to miss this.
August 28: Online Sunday. GPPT until Sept. 1 only if can cash more than once.
- Brantford $550.
August 31: CNE semi-final.
September 3: CNE final. If I qualify, I will lose my Playground GPPT entry and will have to postpone joining PocketsTwos in the Montreal Airbnb.
- WCC $109 Grand Prix.
September 5: WCC Grand Prix final Day 3 at Playground, 13:00.
- Online Grand Prix Final Day, 16:15. Hopefully, I'll have the problem of playing both the live & online finals at the same time!
September 7: WCC
- GBH $225.

The bottom line for me is that if I think I can beat the poker game, I'm willing to try it. I made money at the CNE last summer so I think I'm +EV again this summer. Just like the $550 Brantford and many other tournaments sell out in poker-hungry Ontario, all 1,600 $120 CNE entries will sell out again this month! My friend and I will be playing in the first semi-final next Wednesday, along with the infamous "Hash Tag King" and Ferrari George. See you all at The Ex!
