Montréal Meet-up
I see that a few of you regulars are headed to Montreal for the WSOP @ Montreal Casino or the WPT @ The Playground.
I will likely make the drive down from Ottawa at some point to check out the action.
If anyone is interested in meeting up, let me know... I'll buy you a drink! Just let me know what dates your going to be there.

Been dying to play some live mixed games. Probably has to be at playground.
If anyone sees an interest list up it was probably me so hop in if your into earning piles of white chips off me.
There will probably be a WPT party during the Main Event as usual with the RFG and PocketsTwos' nemesis. It may be open bar again for partypoker guests.

If it's true that Casino Montreal's cash game rake is $10 max, 10%, and even higher than Playground's, I'll probably check out the renovated Snake's Poker Club again.
Still available for $33.00/night April 19-22. 5 mins to Casino Montreal
Free parking, Full kitchen. House has nice patio to drink beers on...
I've been lurking their Facebook page to try and get updates on the progress and last I checked (yesterday) someone mentioned having gone there and peeking in through the torn paper covering the windows and it appears not much is happening and it is highly unlikely it'll reopen in the spring.
But of a Shame, I always enjoyed stopping in there on every Montreal visit.
Cash game action has exploded here since yesterday - mid-afternoon today there were already something like 20 tables including a huge $5-$5 Mixed PLO/Pineapple game and the usually-large $1-$2-$5 PLO game that gets going pretty regularly. Add a $5-$5 Hold'em game and another 5 $2-$5 games - all pretty big - and it's pretty clear it's going to be a great few weeks!
Event 1 had 500 runners yesterday for the first 2/4 starting flights. Day 1c tonight and 1d tomorrow.
Satellite wins are given in cheques, which can be used towards the WSOP ring events. Cash game rake is 10%, max $8 for 1/2 + $1 BBJ rake. You're not allowed to eat at the poker table. They're supposed to give me confirmation for the WSOP events I prepaid for, including the Main Event.
My favourite pit stop on the long drive to/from Montreal is Thousand Islands Casino. The old OLG casino has been taken over privately and I'm not sure if the newly named Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands is open yet, but I'LL use the exit to fill up on gas and get McBarf to go. I was told this month by a player at Casino Rama that he played recently at the newly renovated Snakes Poker Club, so I'll be the guinea pig to check it out. Ten WSOP rings + four casinos in ten days!
Since I'm not driving with the forum member with the Tesla, here's my trip calculator for the round-trip drive to Casino Montreal and Playground: $87, 1189 km, 89.9 L, and carbon footprint of 594 lbs.
We usually stop in there also but I'm not driving this time and it sounds like we're heading straight there. Didn't know it is under new private ownership.....If they are still using the old chip sets then don't bother though.
Also I think there's a mcD's in that general area that (last I was there) still offered the big xtra which was quite the run good considering it was my fav but has been pulled from every other one I've been too.

I don't know who said this, but it was not accurate, not even close.
After I talked to the poker room supervisor and $100 tournament winner at Shorelines Casino, I asked for souvenir chips at the cashier but they said chips are only available from a table game dealer.
After PocketsTwos checked into the house and welcomed with a bottle of wine and other goodies, we registered at Casino Montreal. There is a promotion for new players where you can get up to $50 cash. We collected the first cash bonus and played the $60 super satellite.
Pro tip: Order Big mac. Ask for no mac sauce. Add McChicken sauce. Add Tomato.
Thank me later!

No way, not sold out. Events here almost never sell out because we will always call extra dealers to add. If it comes to it we'll seat 50+ alternates - we do that all the time because it's really difficult to predict when an event will explode.
The size of the club does a few things to buy-in and sitting patterns. First, hardly anyone buys in advance - they know they don't have to worry that much about it - if you're here on time, you'll pretty much always play. Late registrants get a full stack as well, and since players know they're going to sit, they take advantage of late reg. 50% to 60% of the field in any tournament will register after an event starts. Visitors have frequently looked at the number of runners when an event starts and said, "ah, not for me, not enough players" only to find that by the end of late reg there are plenty and they're missing out on a great tourney.

How long ahead of time can you phone in to get your name on the list for cash games? Do the lists move quick? Likely be playing 2/5 tonight to start. What are the max buyins forbeach cash game? I prefer $1k+ max buyin cash games and 200bb is even better. Thanks.
Online purchasing closes 24 hours before an event - and anyhow for that event it wasn't ever open because our cashier's had to verify a player's eligibility first.
Lists generally move quickly but obviously it's dependent on staff and table availability. The advance call-in limit is 60 minutes.
Buy-in limits are quite standard 100bb here for the most part - max for 2/5 is $500. The wrinkle is for our $5-$5 game - max buy-in is $1,000.
