What are the cash games like. I land around 6:30 and was debating if I should go to deerfoot or cowboys. I'm staying at the best western on Macleod 5 min from cowboys. I hear cowboys casino on a sat night is really good when the flames have a home game. In addition how long do I have to check in if I call in advance.
Not too sure on cash games check in times....last weekend was gonna play about 9pm...but there was a big list
Play whatever you like. Your game appears to be solid and your are just running on the wrong side of variance. I believe there is a tourney series starting at grey eagle this week.
Here's a quick TR for the Deerfoot WSS Main Event:
First off, the day (Saturday) got off to a bad start when I got up and there was a foot of snow on the car, and I had yet to do the drive from Edmonton to Calgary.....Left Edmonton when it was -16c......arrive in Calgary 3 hours later, +8c (only in Alberta).
Checkin to the hotel, and then late reg (about 1/2 hr) for the $1500 Day 1b Main Event. Had my toughest table in awhile, with a WSOP bracelet winner to my left x2, and 2 prominant Alberta players at the top of the points race at my left x1 and left x3. Biggest pot in the first couple hours was calling down Bonkowski to river with A high and being good.
Managed to win a good pot in the 3rd or so level. 5 limpers @ 150-300....button pumps to 1.4K.......I think it's a good spot to set mine with 33 in the SB as I was assuming my call would prompt a few other calls.....I was right....we were 5 handed to the flop.
K34rb.........it's checked around to the button, who makes it 3.9k.....I raise to 8.5k (20k back).....bb (covers me) ships behind me.....button tank folds what he said after was AK........I snap.....BB shows K4 and bricks out. Moved me to 74k at the time, which put me as the big stack at my table. Fortunately this tough table broke shortly after, and tables were much easier after that, hitting dinner break with 85k (2x avg) stack.
Was pretty smooth sailing for me into the last couple levels of the day, peaking at about 180k chips. Lost a big pot at that time to a super lag who just showed up at my table with a little more chips than I had. raise KK utg, he 3-bets.....I 4-bet to 20k....he flats.......flop AT9...check, check.....turn 7.....I check, he bets 20k, I call......river T....I check, he barrels 45k.....I tank fold. (had I played with him for 10 more minutes, I would have played this hand much differently, and likely snapped his river bet).....that had me down to 140k.
Then, call a raise in BB with KT.....and get it in on turn board of K29T......and double up 22...dropping me to 100k (which will be about average for day 2).
5 minutes left on Day 1, I get dealt AA on the button. MP raises to 4k, cutoff flats.....I make it 14k on the button......folds around to cutoff, who flats. Flop J34.....checked to me, I bet 30k (about 65K back).....he's asking me if I hit the J.....I respond with 'Do I need to?'.......he ships it in (just has me covered).....I snap, he shows JT.......T 8 runout and I'm busto.
Pretty crushing end to the day.
Pokernews Canada caught a couple of my hands, and actually has the photo when I flip my AA to my opponents TJ....you can see the disgust in his face (photo 8/16 on Day 1b updates)
Is the super lag the same guy who busted you? I've played with that guy a few times. Likes to talk a lot. Never was a big fan of his but the story about how he paid the dealer $1k was pretty funny.

No...I've played alot with Malcolm as well (the guy who busted me)......but the super lag was on a different level....even Malcolm was commenting on how nitty he made him look.
I am hoping you won this and have been enjoying hookers and blow since.
sorry, forgot to update.........check shoved last 10bb with a flush draw and obv bricked.....with both entries, I don't think I played much more than 2 hours
these tourneys are so soft....I'll be sure to play as many as I can in the next couple of weeks

Will head to cowboys tonight as it is closer. Hope to head to deerfoot tomorrow at some point.
Bankroll is at $1170
I'll let you guys decide if you want me to play out over the next couple weeks playing some +ev tourney's, or I can refund right away.
Please state what you'll like....if you want to refund, please PM me your EMT info.
PS: Sorry for the delay to get this on here....but out of my control obv.

3 guys that were on my last table played, made the final table, with 2 of them in on a 5-way chop for 43K each (including the TJ).
great trip report. I would be more then happy to participate in future BAP's
I'm in it for the long haul. You play what you think is best.

He has some good results....but also deep pockets. He's a nice enough guy, but.......let's just say I'm always very giddy when I see him on my table.
Ouch!! No justice in this world.. Grind it up..
thanks for the update.
Bankroll at $730 as we bricked a $100 and a $340 (as seen in this thread)
I may try to get to Calgary to play some of the DSPT at Grey Eagle the next week and a half......I will advise
