Ivey accused of cheating casino out of $11.9 mil

Apparently had a nice run at Baccarat. Check out thestar.com for the details. (I'm at work and can't paste the link)

To be fair he's denied it and is suing for the winnings they've withheld.

  • If this is the Punto Banco thing, Crockford's should be embarrassed. Pay the man his winnings.
  • Their claim that his cheating involved exploiting a flaw in the cards is laughable. :D
  • I don't know . . . apparently this Asian woman he was with had been banned from several other casinos for "advantage" play (card counting is an example of advantage play), so maybe she noticed something and started giving Ivey advice. Mind you, the idea that he cheated IS laughable, considering he never touched the cards at any point. And, if the deck was somehow compromised due to a production flaw, how is that Ivey's fault? He did not introduce the deck into play, and I am quite certain that, if his initial poor run had continued, costing him millions, Crockford's would not now be offering him a refund.

    Scummy little wanks.
  • I agree completely with Milo, if the cards are marked and they are NOT yours and you use them to your fullest advantage, then your the idiot, least in ON its part of the dealers job to pick up on marked cards...I understand its a lot of money but really, you snooze you lose!
  • Actually, it is the job of the Casino's Gaming Management (or whatever title they use) job to inspect all equipment to ensure it is up to snuff. Someone on staff did not do their job, and that is the fault of the Casino, not Phil Ivey. that he "might" have taken advantage of such a situation is not cheating, it is simply common sense.
