Brantford BAP

I am playing the $200 tourney tomorrow. I am offering 25% ($50), no limit on how much you can buy. Let the games begin.

Its a deep stack (7500 chips to start, 30min blinds - max 80 players)

I will be getting updates onto the forum during breaks. Haven't figured out how to twitter from my phone yet.

You need to get in touch with your inner troll, Jeff.

Just don't touch your inner troll in public. :)
  • Sorry for the threadjack, but I could open up 20% for this too if anyone is interested in testing my runbad.

    That's the attitude. :)
  • 18k at first break.

Of course on the way this morning I'm thinking of only two guys I didn't want to see at the tables. One is djgolfcan and the other is the Brantford reg who ran over the last couple tourny's I've played here. Both are side by side across the table as I'm seated. Ugh.

    Highlights-

    Flopping flush against rivered straight.

    Table change. :)

Rivering nut straight against two callers.

    Lowlight-

Table change back to original table. :(
  • Out 23rd.

    Lowlights-

400/800 defend 5 BB shove from shortstack with AQ on the BB. AQ<KK

600/1200 defend 6 BB shove with AK suited. AK<55

Just before second break, M of 10. EP standard raise. I shove with 77 on the button. SB calls for about half my stack, original raiser calls. My 77 vs AK vs K10 (SB). Flop an ace turn an ace, gg me.

Djgolfcan still going strong with approx 38 700 at second break, 22 left avg stack 27 200.. Go horsey!
  • It was $672 officially, but I kicked in $20 for the bubble (it coulda been me) and $2 tip at the cage. So $650 less $200 buy in for a $450 profit !!

Now to figure out who gets what. Please let me know if I am calculating this wrong.

JohnnieH had 5% (cost of $10, not paid) - 'cause he knew I would cash. So he gets $22.50

Hobbes had 5% (cost of $10, not paid) - same reason as above. So he gets $22.00

the Highflyer had 10% (cost of $20, paid) - oh ye of little faith, lol. So he gets $65.00

And I swapped 10% with Hellmuth's Mole, who looked really strong early on. He gets $65.00

Did I do it right ?

HM was cruising through the first four levels of the tourney. He'd raise, get a caller, make a C bet on the flop, villain folds, easy game. We never had one hand against one another, not by design, it just worked out that way, thought we were gonna divide up the table between us.

No real big hands for me. Everyone seemed to believe my raises and bets. It didn't hurt that the few times I went to showdown, I showed the winning hand. :)

Then I did do it right.

Great job Devon. From what I saw you were a picture of controlled aggression. Excellent result imo.

After the fact I wish I wouldn't have had all the table changes I had despite wanting to avoid you and Brantford reg off the start. Never spent enough time at a table to get a good read of players when the blinds started climbing.

Again, I believe a little rungood at the right time would have made a huge difference for me. Satisfied overall with my game right now, just getting impatient for the results.
  • congrats on the cash Devon!
  • Sick! Well done!

I assume we'll settle up next time I see you.

Excellent, I'll be the one avoiding you. lol.
  • Hopefully you can see everybody at HPT34 September 10th. Easiest and cheapest way to pay imo. And congrats.

Not me, the wife made plans for that day :(

Thanks Dave. Your tourney has stiffer competition than Brantford does, imo. And I am planning to be at the next one.
  • Awesome job!!
