s-s-sunday million

Pokergods hate me ^^'

I'm playing an hour or so into the event when I pick up aces UTG, getting tricky for once I decide to limp them. a guy two seats in front of me minraises me and gets two more callers. My notes on the guy raising says fish basically and it seems like I'm right. I 5x his raise and he calls, rest of the players run and hide.

Flop comes :8d :9s :qh, rainbow. I check it to him, he bets out really small, I raise him to around 2/3's of the pot, he calls.

turn comes :5c in the suit that is not yet on the board and I fire a bit over half the pot again, he calls.

river comes :6c, I put in my last few chips, he calls and shows me the fucking :as :7s

These sunday million beats are getting tough ^^'

  • Way to weak........
  • i personally don't like slowplaying AA in MTTs. well at least i would very rarely if ever (possibly final table sort of thing i might or if i'm on the button folded to me with a crazy LAG in the blinds or something like that - but even then i'd probably just slowplay preflop and then get aggressive). slowplaying is over-used and greatly over-rated in imho.

    +1

    Its only 1 pair.....

But OP you are right....Sunday Million = Donkfest
  • hmm, I did get my limpraise in, then as it turned out I was allowed to fire both flop and turn. How was this too weak?
  • Cause its almost like you are trying to squeeze in that position with a lessor holding which you were not. So people will more likely call with an inferior holding in position where if you had come in with an initial raise it would have looked "more legit" so to speak.

Either way you got unlucky in that spot that's all.

that's kinda the point of limpraising in the first place ^^'

(sure I knew the risks of stacking off against a set here and I woulnd't have minded that much, but I was just awed how any 7 could survive the previous betting rounds)

(Edit: not that it matters but I probably don't risk stacking off against a set more by limprasing than by just opening anyway)
  • Dont mean to sound like a broken record (or the BBV mod.) , but.....

    No strat. in BBV donkeys.

Edit: Graham: can we have some discipline here? 1 day ban for anyone posting strategy in BBV.
