  • This is an invitation only tournament so there will be a very small field.
  • Sounds good Graham. I downloaded and installed Betfair through PFC tonight. I was actually very close to doing it two weeks ago for sportsbook purposes (turns out I'm glad I waited).

Haven't created an account or deposited $ yet. When I do, should I be putting in a referral code? You mention 40% rakeback. What do I need to do to get that? Is it automatic by downloading through PFC or do I need to do something else?
  • Yes please explain how your rakeback works.
  • Coming soon guys... give me a day or two.
  • No problem Graham. Not trying to rush the big announcement. I am trying to figure out how to get myself into the Hockey Hall of Fame freeroll though.

Just to be clear - are you saying we can safely create a new Betfair account now with no referral/bonus code and without depositing any $ (yet) and still get into the HHOF freeroll (and not miss out on any PFC-related Betfair bonus that might be coming)?
  • I'm gonna try and get a hold of them asap to confirm the rakeback stuff. As for bonus code, this here is the info (as long as you use the links here everything will track properly):
    • Sign up using the promotional code BFP600
    • Start playing poker to receive bonus
    • Receive a bonus of up to $600* based on the number of Betfair Points generated
    • Bonus is effective from your first hand played
    • Bonus is valid for 60 days only
    • Bonus is paid every Wednesday for Betfair Points generated in the previous week i.e. you will receive $10 if you generate 400 Betfair Points
    • Payments are made in increments of $10
  • Here is some info that I have for the rakeback. Waiting to confirm a few more details:

After the huge success of our initial 3-month promotion, we’d like to let you know that our 40% Rakeback offer has now been made permanent!

This means that all new players who have signed up to Betfair Poker from 1st February 2009 onwards and generate at least 30,000 Betfair Poker points (£1500) monthly, now get a straight 40% rakeback! What more can you ask for?

As we understand that players who have signed up to before February 09 will also be interested in this and may contact you, please ask them to contact Betfair directly at pokerinfo@betfair.com. Also remember that rakeback payments are now taking place twice monthly, on the first and third Thursday of every month. More details can be found here.
  • Hi guys:

Just wanted to introduce myself as the Canada Manager for Betfair. Please ask me any questions about betfair poker on the forum or Pm me and I will get back to you.

You should always FIRST try pokerinfo@betfair.com if you have a poker question.

As for rakeback, you will need to ask for a rakeback deal from pokerinfo@betfair.com to get it. They have alot of different deals based on your play. The best one I know of right now is the 40% deal. Graham added a link below.

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Rob

  • OK Graham, I downloaded the software using the link here on pokerforum. I created an account using the BFC600 promotion code. Do I need to do anything else to get into tomorrows freeroll? My alias is "compuease99". Username is compuease.
I haven't deposited as yet as I want to understand the rakeback system first, or do we need to deposit to play in tomorrows freeroll?
When I tried ro register it said "This is a private tournament, you can not register"
  • I signed up for Betfair....through the link here...but I guess it didn't work as it won't let me register for the tournament. What's the next step I need to do, to both be seen as signing up through here and joining the tourney? By the way, my alias is Fludlerk1.
  • When does the draw for the tickets happen? Alias is CANBeaver
  • ok,Just sent email to betfair,so will see what happens .
I`ll let you know if I get in,
    thanks

You did step 1, the rest of the steps were in the first post:

    2. Email canadamanager@betfair.com with your poker alias as it is a private tournament. (Tell them you are from PokerForum.ca and they will hook you up with a special bonus).
    3. Find the freeroll tab on the poker application and enter the Canada Celebrity Hockey Hall of Fame freeroll (may take some time to upload your alias).

I am waiting on Betfair to confirm the rakeback setup.

As for the freeroll, did you email them? See above post for rest of instructions.

FYI Deadline for emails is Sunday 10am EST
  • Okay, emailed the canadianmanager for Betfair. Hopefully it all gets done and I'll see you all at the table tomorrow evening. :)
  • Damn it, yet another really cool promotion through a site without Mac software......crap.

Good stuff Graham. May have to fall off the wagon and buy a microsofty box to get on this great stuff you are pulling down.

Aren't there programs to run Windows over Mac?
  • Still won't let me log into the HHOF tournament. Not sure what else I can do to make this happen, but if you have any ideas, let me know. I've emailed the canadian manager for betfair, info at betfair....any other ideas?

Oh, never mind...have an email from the canmanager....hopefully I'll be on the list around noon. Now, if I can just remember how to win a freeroll. :)
  • ..........I get to play with U guys tonight!! Sendt the email to BetFred regarding my alias there and the freeroll I wanted to join tonight,

Do U get a list, or do them tell U, Graham, when they stop registrering people

So how's the weather in Norway? Starting to warm up?

Did you send the email to the Betfair Canadian manager? Are you going to come to Canada to collect you prizes if you win?

By the way, I just noticed that you signed up way back in Aug 2005.. And this is your first post...?
Wow, welcome and please excuse some of the regularts around here... Not all Canadians are the same.... You actually have been a member longer than most of them, lol...
  • Graham said "Aren't there programs to run Windows over Mac?"

yes there are sir but then you open up a mac to all the same crap that can kill a windows machine. I need the mac to be stable.
  • sounds like a great opportunity!
  • See everyone there!
  • Half the field is gone, and I'm hanging by a thread. Who's still in?
  • Went out 40th. Was low stacked the whole time but managed to keep using up my nine lives.
  • Out 41st. Was overall a VERY weak field. Too bad. Had a pigeon (/big-mouthed asshole) in my sights the entire tourney. Donk is massive all-in re-raising with 22, calling massive all-ins with 55 & 99, etc. I finally get my chance with KK. 4.5x raise it up (1/3rd my stack) knowing he'll at least call. He does and then pushes all-in on a Axx flop. I have to call after seeing him do the same thing for over an hour with all sorts of total trash. Of course he had called my original raise with A3o. Sigh.

DataMn and compuease are still alive. DataMn was at my table just before I got KO'd. Hopefully he'll get a chance to pluck that pigeon.
  • Still in 8th of 14....

Final table I'm 7th of nine but plenty of play left..
  • Out in 10th. I made a very bad call for 2/3rds of my chips....chit!

And pushed my Q 10 on the button into AA in the BB. GG.

    Go get 'em Compuease!

I am so hating missing this.......I'm never going away again.
