1st Live Game..n I lost
Today i played my first live game!!
I had to go downtown, took an hour to get there but it was worth it.
I went into the building and shortly after I entered the house. I was nervous as hell!! I was greeted by Kirk, let's call him Captain Kirk. He said what's up then he led me to the table. Suprisingly (not really ^_^) I was the only black guy, lol. Everyone in the apartment was white, with the exception of 2 asians.
I bought in for $50 and the blinds were 1/2 NL. I couldn't remember everyone's name so i made up names for them. There was The Kid, Tattoo, Coach,& Bluff. There were more guys but they didn't stand out much. I lost all my money in about 30mins, but the experience was worth it. But next time I will win my money back!!

Comments
and before I get all troll-flamed, let me bring up some points / questions
A: You bought in for $50 --> most casinos have a maximum of $100 for 1/2, (the better ones have up to 300 that I've seen). I salivate when I see someone buy in for less than the $100, because this means they're either new to the game (don't understand the value of having more money in your stack), bad at the game (don't want to go bust too quickly / risk too much on any given hand), or only can afford to play with that much (and can therefore be pushed around).
B: You give no information aside from nicknames about the guys, and I'm guessing you're an internet player - the game plays differently live vs. online. Mistakes are easier live since bad internet habits can form - you have no experience monitoring the action to avoid acting out of turn. It's possible you could misunderstand simple things such as string raises, and there's also the matter of boredom - you could be disinterested due to the fewer hands per hour.
C: You didn't mention anything about the game itself, at the risk of contradicting my first point, what did everyone else buy in for? Were they all at $50? (If so, I'll come with next time with a few $100's). What was the play like?
Now, just to avoid being interpreted as a prick, I'm glad you enjoyed live poker - I do too (in fact it's really more fun overall), and I hope you enjoy a winning session soon! (They're WAY more fun )

Mark has a few hundreds?
In all seriousness, Mark's analysis is pretty well spot on.... Give us a few more details as he has asked and we can probably give you some pretty good guidance...
If you're going to label players, do so according to their table image. Instead of Tattoo, Kid, Coach, & Bluff, label them TAG, Newbie, Shark, and Fish. It will go along way in knowing how to play each of them differently.
Welcome to the game. You're only starting to learn its a lot tougher than it seems on TV. But you can improve, and that's what makes it a lot of fun.
Well, that...and winning money.
Well Mark to answer a few of your questions,
1. I only had $50. I know I should've brought more money but I was excited and eager to play. I didn't care if I took everyone's money or lost all my money on the first hand, I was there mainly for the experience.
2. The title of my thread is 1st Live Game, meaning all the games I played before this was obviously online. Though most my experience comes from online i do understand the simple things like a string raise.
3. The info about the players. My post wasn't about them, but about me and my 1st live game. I did study them a bit, I stayed at the table for 30 mins grilling each player. For example Bluff...he bluffs a lot ???.
Anyways, next time I'm gonna bring $100, Mark, and I'm gonna at least double my money, Mark, and then I'll make a new thread titled 2nd Live Game..n I won big mon-ayy , Mark! Lol.
But winning is even better.
I was trying to provide some feedback to what I presumed was a strategy post.. I forgot to check which of the 387 different sub-forums it was in. I really am glad you enjoyed your first time live!
Next time I'll check if I'm supposed to just provide a "good for you" / "my life sucks" / "show me your tits" / "I'm drunk while typing this" before foolishly discussing poker strategy.
Mark
There is no strategy allowed in BBV. The only mistake here was yours.
Problem with live poker is 1/2 is typically the minimum blinds so if your budget is limited, you don't really have much choice. Just play within your bankroll.
Since you mentioned Coach and Kirk
I think I've played there.
It's a good game.
The advice you're getting is good, 50 is too small.
50 is okay if you just want to try things out and plan to play a short stack strategy.
But...
Buy in for 300 if you can afford it.
