Brag - Donkish and lucky but what the h*ll.....

Was playing a $5.50 SNG on FTP, was on the bubble and was the small stack with 1150 (two big stacks 2 small stacks with me being the smallest). Blinds were 120/240. A Big stack LAG was to my right and was consistently raising every hand and stealing my blind for the last few revolutions. Finally get dealt reasonable cards AQ suited in the BB. UTG (the Big Stack) limps, button folds, 2nd big stack (SB) raises 3x BB, I go all-in... insta-call from UTG and SB. oooh-ooh.....

UTG has AA, SB has QQ. Flop comes K, J, 10, turn 9, river 5. I triple up, SB gets side-pot for lower straight and UTG is crippled. As a result I go on to win SNG.

Yes, a donkish play (although in that situation following hand after hand of having to fold to raises/steals, I still think I was right) but we've all been there where we're the small-stack on the bubble just waiting for a chance to push back at the bully to the right... Considering how many times I've had AA cracked this week, felt nice to turn the tables:)

Comments

  • Lucky yes, but donkish??? I don't see it. Looks like a reasonable move in that spot. Am I wrong?
  • Personally I don't believe it was a donk move but the comments from the other players and an observer would suggest differently:). In the same circumstances I would do it again. (Funny how a winning lucky hand almost always makes you a donk in the eyes of your competitors.:))
  • M is like 3ish... you wouldn't be a donkey regardless of what you get it in there with... though, with a raise, I'd limit it to any suited and / or connected cards...
