I thought I played it right...
the game is an hour old and I've been card dead so far. A couple of attempts at manufacturing winning hands has failed and I still have yet to win a pot.....
I had Q-Q
BB was 60, I raised another 175 on top.
Got 2 callers behind me
Flop- A-9-9
check all around. I'm not happy about that flop!
turn- 6
someone bet 150, me and other call. At this point I think I could be beat by one or both of these guys calling my pre-flop raise with a strong Ace but I want to see if another Q comes up.
river- ? something small.
player 1 check, I check because I'm not confident about the hand and am just hoping player 3 is chicken enough to check too. At this point with some luck I'll just take what's in the pot already without sacrificing more but he pushes all in and has us out stacked.
Player 2 folds and after a couple of minutes, I decide to be disciplined and fold the nice looking hand.
Just like Jennifer Harman says in that commercial, "hard to let these go but when you're beat, you're beat". The opponent isn't known to bluff so I am confident I am indeed beat but pissed about it and fold.
Turns out all of us had pockets. Q-Q, 8-8, 7-7. Guy with 8-8 won.
2 days later, I think I should have bet on the river to at least see where I stood. If was then re-raised, well, then good for him for making a good play but he sensed weakness in us for a flat call and then a check.
A half hour later I busted out with top pair (Qs) and a King kickerby a guy with a Q and Ace kicker. Out kicked when holding a King is just bad luck. Just not my night I guess.

unless the river is a 8
you should won it with QQ
flop A99 turn 6 river Xsomething small
WTF?
I would have won it if had I of called the all-in but I elected to fold fearing someone had an ace, or worse, pocket 9s.
I guess he figured that me or the other guy could of been trapping after the flop and turn but if we really had the nuts, we would have bet on the river to extract more chips. There is no way someone with an ace or trip 9s would check, flat call and check. Wish I had of thought of that at the time! I would have represented the ace or trip 9s myself. Oh well, you learn something (or at least I do) every game.
You should bet here, just because you got called does NOT mean anyone has an ACE... in fact because you weren't reraised preflop you can virtually eliminate AK AQ. So because you opened - you should continuation bet this flop 100% (unless you think there is a superaggro who will bet etc) with a 75%pot bet.
Then you don't have to worry about the rest of this hand.
You could also c/r here repping the nine, but that is less likely...
If this gets to the turn without a bet you should definately be betting.
Because it got to the river without a bet, you have to fold. Go put on a skirt and some lipstick and fold.
any particular shade of red that you can recommend? ;-)
Yep, lesson learned and thanks for the advice.
i miss read your post
but don't beat yourself up.
if you can't fold a winner, you can't be a winner.
at that river, i would suspect A or a slow play 9
