For those who like the call option, why are you not raising if you think this guy is trying to steal the pot? Is it because you only get called by a better hand?
i call here all day
hero check the turn for 2 reason
1) pot control
2) sent out i miss and try to induce a river bluff
well the situation is...hero got everything he want it.
pot is small compare to if he bet the turn.
so you successfully induce a bluff from villian, you have to call this.
if villian has you beat, so be it. you did a pot control, damage is minimum.
Waltsfriend
i quote your statement.
i would have to say, betting the turn will get you no value!
hero stated villian is tight player.
I guess I wasn't clear in my post. My point isn't that you necessarily expect a call on the turn, it was that there is no such thing as a value bet on the river with this hand. IF you are going to get any value, it will come with a bet on the turn. If the villain calls the turn and then makes a pot sized bet on the river, then at least I am making a decision with more information.

The value here comes from under representing your hand and giving your opponent the opportunity to bluff his entire range. We know he is aggressive so we give him an opportunity to be aggressive. This is a perfect example of how you can get excellent value from a one pair hand.
The most important part of this hand isn't the turn or the river, as everyone keeps focusing on. There is no information to be gained from these 2 streets, thus no conclusions can be drawn.
Everyone is ignoring the parts of this hand where information CAN be determined:
Villain limps preflop, we can safely limit him to 26% or whatnot...
Villain calls $15, we can probably cut this down to 15%? I'd say any 1 gap or 2faceoffsuit are gone now. That leaves his hand as 5/5+, A9s+,KQs+, and random suited connectors (to be generous).
Flop comes A95 r and you bet $35 at a $45 pot. Villain smooth calls. Although a gutshot call here is possible, it's a terrible play. Let's assume he's got a hand, or he's planning to bluff you out later.
If he's got a hand, It's one of the following:
AJ+,99,55,A9,A5. OR it's a bluff, no other hand meets both conditions of calling pre & flop.
Of those hands, you have 1 beat, just 1. AQ.
It's a good fold. No hands that you beat come along and lead out 100 on the river. Period.
There's a lot of rhetoric floating around about the checking the turn, but all this ignores the information you do have. The MoFu has a hand, and it's good.
p.s. You fold here, and you make a Set-Miner a fool. Calling $15 to win $50. You call here, and you've been Mined.
I ended up folding more because I found it hard to justify the $100 raise without a decent hand making this size of bet. He told me the next time I saw him he had two pair (AJ).
If that makes you happy... am I the only person that has told someone that I had a winning hand after a muck to keep them from knowing I pushed them off a pot? Does that make me a liar or perhaps a poker player?

I was thinking about this and does it mean Quite Fucking True. That's the only thing I can come up with Kristy.
Urbandictionary.com is great if you ever get stuck again Joe
