would you play this different?

the table is NL Hold'em
blinds are 5000/10000
first 2 players fold
right of the button calls 10000
button calls 10000
i am SB with K Q i call 5000
BB folds

flop comes 4 9 K
check comes to me I raise 30000
ROTB calls me
button raises all in 285000 that would put me all in at 265000
I fold
ROTB calls for 78000
turn is K
I kick myself in the ass but I put the button on pocket A's
river was a 7
ROTB had pocket 8's
button had pocket rockets

ROTB wins
But I feel I should have won that hand seeing as how the ROTB call my flop bet if the button would have just called I would have got to see my 3rd K and taken them both.
Did I still play this hand right? I think so
correct me if I'm wrong.

888KK > KKKQ8, so no there is no way you are ever winning this hand.

Unless the set of 8's has broken arms and has to fold.
  • sorry i had to edit that the flop was 4 9 K not 4 8 K

    Limpers, Limpers, everywhere there's limpers....

Why not raise to 30k here and try to thin the herd a bit? If you get re-popped, you can potentially drop your hand..
    flop comes 4 8 K
check comes to me I raise 30000

Small point of order, you can't raise if there's no bet... So you bet 30K

Another small point of order, when you are talking in the thousands, please use K, the 0's all tend to run together.

A third, you were SB, who checked to you? You were first to act right?

A fourth, since you are looking for advice, probably a better spot for this would be the strat forum?

So you bet 30k (pot sized bet), and got raised all in.. Yeah I might consider folding. How did you conclude it must be AA?? Couldn't be because of the big raise that was put in pre-flop, there was no indication of what either player held, unless you are psycic?? Side note, why the hell is the button not raising pre-flop?? Best position, best possible starting hand, is this a free bar league?

I'm correcting you. You would have had 3K's, ROTB had a full-house 888KK.

So to conclude, you are new here, so you'll learn over time how to post these types of things, and where...

I'm going to pass on how you played the hand except to again raise an eyebrow at your soul-read....

    Welcome though, enjoy your stay!

    Then how did ROTB win???

    AAKK > KK88?????
  • yeah I'm new anyway. Your right the button did win I was trying to remember to edit that the BUTTON did win. I admit I limped in when I should have bet preflop.
ROTB started the action preflop calling the 10K BB
    Button called
and I called 5K on the SB

Also after I raised 30K after the flop 4 9 K I was called by ROTB and the button instantly went all in. I figured him to have the A's as being the only over pair possible to my K's and or at least something like A K. He had been playing super tight only playing face card and the like.

The BB's pre-flop fold facing a zero-raise is the best play of this entire hand.

Methinks this leads me to believe there are some serious erroneous "facts" being misrepresented in this hand history, which, in turn, will lead to erroneous assumptions of correct/incorrect playing choices. Therefore, I cannot assist in assessing your plays. Sorry!

    ...
yeah I give up I'm lost now I've played to many hands since this one. I think the BB left the table I don't know. Whatever it was I will try and do this on another hand and write down how it all went before I post. I'm a newb....LOL
