Beat: Bubble Boy in live tourney
3 tables start. 30 minute blinds. This was the last game in a series which I didn't participate so many players are starting with more chips than me.
I'm instantly tired and unfocused. I regret coming to the tourney as I had 3 late nights leading up to this. Around 3 hours in my brother calls and says "come to the bar, this is my last night out before I move back to BC". I tell him I'll be out soon and come and see him. The tournament plods on. I drink a bunch of coffee and it makes me feel sketchy and sweaty. I really wanted to leave but I had a very healthy chip stack and I had paid my entry fee. When we get to the final 6 players I have over 30% of the chips in play. I would have happily traded my stack for my buy in so I could go home but now this is starting to look like something real. I call my brother and tell him I'll meet him later at my house to drink beer but right now I have a lot of money up for grabs. I decide to bear down and stick it out. The game drags on, the chip stack are moving around but then moving right back. finally after 6 hours of play (5.5 of which I didn't want to be playing) I manage to bubble it. blah. The beers with my brother after helped my mood but it took awhile to shake off the feeling of wasted time/money.
