  • Well as played on the river you have approx $40. in the pot and $14.50 to call so you are getting better than 3-1. Any 2 diamonds or any Q beats you. Flush is quite likely as I'm not sure he would lead out a str8 with a flushed board. I fold here.
  • am I the only one who doesn't bet the flop? I have trouble imagining that in absence of reads you're not beat there pretty often against 4 other players. Small pot
  • Try not to go 5 way to the flop with AK. I thought the raise was kind of weak pre-flop. That is a minor issue though.

I would not bet the flop. There is no way to improve your hand really, with the exception of another K. Best hand you will have is pair K with A kicks. Horrible turn and river and you have to suspect that any Q or two diamonds win. Although you would have to suspect that player has two diamonds cause he would not have called with an open ender with a flush draw. Not to mention you up against the small blind special...

I think the best scenario here is to hope for some blanks and check/call it down.
  • BB folds

    family pot?
  • im of two minds on this (also take my advice with a HUGE grain of salt):

short handed on a slightly loose passive-aggressive table (the most common in my opinion) AK is a monster hand. I would be putting in a 5bb raise here, represent a top tier hand. make them pay to come out from underneath you.

short handed on a nitty table AK can be problematic because the set hunters will be head hunting you when you toss out that 5bb raise. Also, anyone with a pocket pair that has a non A-K-Q flop isn't likely going anywhere at all.

So first fix - get a big raise out versus the chasers. Force more out of the pot preflop.

On the flop -bearing in mind what the other players are like- either put in an absolutely massive raise and commit, or check and hope to improve, and fold to any heavy action. Personally my style of play leans towards an agressive continuation bet of at least pot size and see where your thoughts are.

As played I am folding 100% of the time on the river there. The only bet anyone makes there is with the flush, or straight.
