Comments

  • sf rigged, tinfoil hats engaged!

    (bad luck zunni)
  • Hand 1... pretty standard... guy was committed
Hand 2... Unlucky and Rigged obv
Hand 3... You were a slight underdog and after seeing what AK did to you on the last 2 hands, why do you just open shove it? AKos can be beat by a lot of hands.

I don't understand why you think it is best to get all your chips in pre-flop or on the flop, because when you do this, then u have to rely on an element of luck to win the hand.

    Regardless, of that... Unlucky ;)

    They were at 100/200.

I play in. Very often I'm the one in your situation.
Get used to it bro, you're playing a low stakes game.
People like to gamble (make mistakes) because they
have very little $ invested, the cost of 2 tim hortons coffees.

Just saw this again, thought I'd respond...

    Several reasons,

    1) This is a $3.00 SnG, players are generally bad and as you can see will call all-in's with hands like AQ (expected because he was committed) and KJ. Great opportunities to pick up stacks of chips with premium hands.
    2) Knowing my hand is likely to be higher than their pushing range especially short stacked (again due to number 1) This was true in 2 out of 3 cases and I was racing on the third.
    3) Because these are turbo SnG's when you get a premium hand, you have to push the action otherwise quickly escalating blinds will eat you up. You need to try to accumulate chips early and often. So even if they fold, you get the blinds (and very shortly after that blinds/antes).

The post wasn't about the beats persay.. It was more about the frequency of AKo in a weird beating the odds kind of a way (within 10 hands, what are the odds on that), combined with how many times it didn't stand up even though it was the dominating hand preflop.

I can handle having AKo go down in a blaze of glory but 3 times.. in 10 hands.. in 1 SnG...
  • A big part of AK's value is Fold Equity. In a tourney where nobody folds... you must devalue AK and all other nonsuited hands.

Not sure where I got the 'value' of AK wrong in any of those 3.

Are you saying that you wouldn't like:

    AK vs KJ

    or

    AK vs, AQ ??

Situations where you have your oppt dominated?

Even when I got called in the third place I knew unless he had AA or KK (unlikely) that it was at worst a coinflip.
