beat by a slow-rolling POS idiot

um ya, i consider this to be bad beat. even moreso because the guy was a clueless jackass.

usual friday night 1/2nl game at the local stable. 10 or 11 players at the table. i'm sitting with about 200. i decide to straddle since people are complaining the table is too tight. bubba is on my left. (some people will remember him from the west side games.) he is sitting with a bit less than 200. he quickly raises to 16. folded around to the SB. he has just moved to our table. he calls without much delay. BB folds. i look at my cards only to see two black kings!

i look over to the SB. he seems to have about 30 left in his stack. i raise enough (i think) to put him all-in. basically, i'm willing to pay him off if he has AA but want to put bubba to the test to see what kind of hand he has. bubba hums and haws forever and says out loud "i've played with you a lot. i have a really good hand and i know you wouldn't raise here without a very good hand." after like forever, he finally folds. the other guy call with almost no thought whatsoever. then i find out he had some chips in his hand and actually has 13 left. (i hate when guys keep the chips in their hand when they know someone is trying to get an idea of their chip count. i would have put the full amount in to deny him any hope of having any kind of reasonable odds to make his hand. lol. my mistake, i know...). so i resign myself to the fact that he has AA and will be getting another 13 bucks out of me...

the flop comes down with 3 hearts and Ace high. he goes all-in. i say i know i'm beat but i'm not folding for 13 into a pot of 100+. i table my KK. he holds his cards and looks like he is ready to muck. WTF? by the river, another heart has come. after quite a long pause at the river, the guy slowly flips over Th9h. nh, moron. i had a good laugh at the thought someone was willing to put more than 75% of their stack in PF against a raise and re-raise with T9 sooooooooted.

turns out bubba folded AxJh and would have won the pot. bubba gives the guy shit for calling with such a crappy hand and the guy calmly says "that's the best hand i've seen all night."

he slowrolled a couple other players after that. one really tricky one where he tossed them face down but gave them a little flick as he released them so his cards would turn over as they sailed. very artistic. (i was so hoping one of them would land face down but that is another thread...)

  • Should I even have to ask who that guy is??
  • You should make it a least $60 to go on the re-raise.
  • you should be happy hes at your table!
  • shoulda called the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAmbulance....lol

    tough break greg
  • you should be thankful he didn't have $300 in front of him. Otherwise it could have cost you a lot more in chips. A lot of players will call big raises with suited connectors in a cash game. Not typically a good call when you have such a small stack, like he did.

um no. 'two black kings', '3 hearts with an Ace high flop'. any guesses as to how much of that 300 i would have called?

Jah. You are the most backwards thinking poster on this site.

What does Greg want? a pat on the shoulder for getting an unlucky flop or some feedback as to why the other player decided to make this call. If this guy would call $46 with 910, my point was he would likely call a lot more (if he had the chips and Greg re-raised more than $30) pre-flop.

talking about pre-flop. The total raise is $46 and he calls. You raise to $60+, he isn't going anywhere.
