What would you do in this situation if you just have that gut feeling you are beat? Can you really lay down the 2nd best possible starting hand?

With the stacks the way they are...no...unless it is live and the player shows me AA
  • Yes... in the back of my mind I figured the two other players were on AX based on the call behind my raise.... I kept telling myself this in my head, even though my gut was saying hes got aces.
  • I think you could have gotten that information with a much smaller raise Graham, say to 350 or so.

I think by raising this much you might have tipped him off to the fact that you had a great big hand, and he could get it all in with you with far and away the best of it.

Personally, I don't think I'm good enough to fold kings ever, but maybe Watts could, or All_Aces.

I really want to know what quibbles was thinking.

There was actually only 1 other player...but same difference really.

I think there was two, Quibbles and Grabovsky.

    What site was this?

Ahh..I misread. I thought he meant 2 and then the 1 guy with the AA.
  • The only time I have ever come close to being able to fold pocket kings preflop was in a cash game against Blondefish. That was only because I had watched him play for several hours and it was live. I am not a good online player, but I have found myself in exactly the same situation many times. The problem is that I have bet exactly the same way and get called by someone with pocket queens or jacks or A-K or A-Q. I rather live with the chance of being against A-A than not have the chance of getting all-in against those other hands.
  • If i folded KK preflop every time i thought the other guy has to have AA i would be up a lot less money than im actually up... you'd be surprised how many times people will show up with worse even when you think they have to have AA. I have folded KK 4 times preflop in my life... all 150+bbs deep, all multiway pots and all correctly... i have wanted to fold KK many other times and run into hands like AK, QQ or worse (and AA a bunch too of course). Don't over think things and talk yourself into folding KK preflop, especially at lower limits. Also, what is with that massive 3 bet?
  • I guess it's about being results oriented as well. Your gut probably feels a lot clearer when it's had it's hunch confirmed.

There was a player who was willing to put in all his money against two others with AQ in that hand. The other guy could easily have had many other hands, including AK, and many pocket pairs.

Here's the thing... it was a freeroll on Carbon for Carbon poker affiliates (so it wasn't a big deal if I lost as I had nothing invested, but if I won, I could get an increase in rev that could result in a few $xxx). I knew the other player and we had been talking and I sensed he was getting bored and was trying to take off... all these things fed into my decision and even though my gut said fold, I just couldn't lay them down.

Very true... you know, the only reason I bet so big was b/c I sensed he had Aces even before and this was gonna be my way of telling. Obv I didn't end up listening to it after.

guy makes a 3x raise and you sense he has AA... i wish i had the ability to sense things like that

I know it sounds retarded, but don't you ever just get that gut feeling?
  • Only against players I've played with several times and only live. Online? If you have a gut feeling he has aces and you release KK, you have super-powers.
  • I called at the last second.... I dont think I have super powers... just good intuition.... Yeah... its almost impossible to fold, but I swear on my life I almost did muck it.

    He's a witch! BURN HIM!
  • I can't ever fold K's either, but I'm a donkey so don't listen to me.
