BEAT- out of $5 rebuy $20000 guaranteed..

early in tourny had 2000 in chips, got AA.
Raise in front, i reraise, one person calls in LP
initial raiser re-raises all-in, i re-raise all in.
LP calls with J8 initial raiser has QQ

J8 makes 2 pair on the river
All money was in preflop.

I rebuy. I have 1500 in chips.

blinds are 50/100

one caller and I'm in SB with AQ I raise to 500. BB pushes
MP caller folds. I call.
BB shows KQ
Board makes him a straight on the river. :(
beat out twice shoulda been sitting pretty..

  • I don't know about you, but I tend to go into rebuy's with an idea of how many I'm willing to buy, and it's generally more than 2.

I remember once, Daniel Negreanu talking about a rebuy strategy where he didn't mind losing a lot of these early as he felt he had an edge and wanted to create a situation where there were lots of chips for him to win from his opponents over the course of the table. It sort of backfired if your table got broken.

Sounds to me like you had a pretty good table where people were happy to put their money in bad against you.

Disregard multiple rebuy advice if the tourney only allowed one rebuy.
  • good point, however i don't have the funds to rebuy anymore on chan, i just got the $10 yesterday and i am only up to around 30 bucks now haha

  • Sorry to hear Davis... In the long run those moves will pay off... better luck next time!

Fair enough, you were gonna have to be pretty lucky then, since all in with air is pretty common in this events.

About my Negreanu advice, if I recall it was at the World Series a couple of years ago, he re bought 48 times and didn't cash, so what the fuck does he know.
  • Rebuying when blinds are 50-100 for 1500 doesnt seem like a good idea to me. You'd have to catch a good hand really damn fast and even then you'd double up to average? or just below.

EDIT: Just had my Aces cracked by A5 off suite when he rivered a 5 high flush (was all in preflop)
Then 3 hands later another guy all in prelfop had his aces cracked by 78suied when he turned a straight.

Then I lost all in with A10 vs j9suited :( WOOT

EDIT2: Just cracked my brothers aces with q8suied, flush. Then had my queens cracked by his 5s like four hands later to win the sng we were playing with friends.
