Beat!! Low Stakes But Still Frustrating

I know this is really low stakes for most of you but I'm just starting out...I've already taken worse river suckouts but this is one where I didn't have to search for the hand history...Do you think i played it bad?

  • fold preflop... bet the flop... raise more on the turn
  • yeah usually i would fold this pre-flop right away, but I was in LP.......and I didn't bet the flop because I obviously hit the flop pretty damn hard and didn't want to scare people away......however I'm pretty sure the guy with 99 would still have called so...........
  • You were in middle position..

Review starting hand selection, bet flop, bet turn, curse the dude out on the river.

    Mark
  • I agree... low bet the flop, much bigger raise on turn and if the guy is still in the hand, like others said, curse him on the river ;)
  • yeah the raise on the turn was pretty weak come to think of it...
  • Sorry, how was I in middle position?

Sorry but how was I in middle position?
  • Wait.. my bad...

    Me read HH wrong

    Still, a folding hand.

  • yeah, I'm in seat 8, on the button............
  • excuse me?

How is this a bad beat?

    you were playing A4o!

With the pre-flop raise he probably put you on AK or AT for sure... thought he was ahead the whole time you got lucky on the flop.

sorry but i like to see guys who raise with ace-rag get smoked!
  • Also, i realize you're just starting out..

Do you normally raise pre-flop with ace rag?

If you do they probably have fish written all over thier notes about you man,

study up a bit on the game and position raises, personally I would have just

limped and check raised the flop or turn.

    ohh well

    live and learn :)
  • Umm...

Am I really a bad reader, or did I miss something? It doesn't look like there WAS a raise PF

    Mark
  • Nope, everybody limped.

Normally you should be raising with A-rag on the puck, but in a LLCG I dont' mind the limp.

As mentioned you should have pumped the turn.
  • LMAO @ bleemo

OP... fold preflop because the only flop that is good for you is 44x or 235

    /g2
  • yer right doc..no raise pre flop,

still.. A4o is NOT what i'd call a great starting hand.

    he'll learn..:)

be happy all it cost you was a few bucks, A lot of players get a flop like that and play every A rag until they drop their entire rolls

Yeah I never pre-flopped.......and I'd say it was a bad beat when he hit his 2-outer on the river to beat me (i think he did lol)......
  • shitty river but i think betting the flop, then betting the turn harder is smart with this many people in the pot
