BEAT - FU Sympatico!
Just got the worst type of bad beat! I was playing a HU sit n go... dominating the guy (my stack was about 2500 his 500)...then it happened....
My stupid internet connection dropped!
I finally manage to get back in and he has widdled me down to 300 chips... I manage to work my way back up to 1300 when he shoves all in... I have 55 so I call as the blinds were getting too big to wait for anything better. Sure enough, he has two over cards and hits, and I am eliminated...
I hate sympatico!

Do you use them? How are their download speeds? Wouldn't they just use the Bell network anyway?
I am intrigued now about getting a backup line incase the primary connection goes down.
My ISP is Bell and I'm still on dial up. On occassion the internet will just disconnect or stop working in the middle of my tournaments. I've folded a lot of playable hands this way and I've been looking for wireless service but they don't offer it in the middle of no where lol.
I know I've folded Aces 3 times and Kings 5 due to this problem. It gets so frustrating while trying to play. I know if I was playing against me and it happened I would be upset.
I use acanac.net
Yes they are just resellers of sympatico service, but I feel a lot better getting disconnected knowing I'm paying $18.95 a month versus $45+.
Actually where I am acanac has been rock solid reliable, maybe a couple hours downtime total over the last 365 days.
Agree with the above!
Did this happen last night at around 10:00 or so, on Full Tilt? I use Sympatico too... was playing in the 1K Full Tilt tournament, dealt AQ, connection gone. Everything else was working fine... other sites, web email.... just Full Tilt, and only for 5 minutes or so. I thought it was bizarre.
To make it more bizarre, Hayley--who lives across town from me--had no problems with her Full Tilt connection at the time.
These random drops in service to different sites for different periods of time really piss me off, because it's clearly not a connection thing. I don't know what it is, but it bugs me.
I would not use acanac based on personal experience -- I tried to switch to them at one point and they did not provide service for an entire month despite charging by credit card. They also have WORSE customer service than Bell/Rogers -- I did not know that was humanly possible. I tried to call them over 20 times to get them to refund my card with no success -- the customer service does not have access to the bills and they have no incoming # for billing. They would continually say they would have billing call me and they did not call, ever. I finally googled something like acanac poor service or complaints or something and found an entire forum dedicated to the horrendous quality of their service. After posting on the forum I finally got my money refunded.
As I recall there were tonnnnnes of complaints on the BBB website regarding this company as well.
It was probably around 1am, and I was playing at Chan, but it wasn't Chan Poker, it was my internet connection (couldn't get to any sites). This happens all the time with Sympatico. We have had our issue escalated to a VP there (my mom used to work for Bell and knows people), but still its not working... really annoying. I am so sick of Bell.
They use Bell's copper lines into your house, but the servers, bandwidth and connectivity are provided by Teksavvy. You could always get DSL and like a lite-usage Cable (or vice-versa) package for pretty cheap.
I did at exactly this time on Full Tilt. I was involved in 2 pots on my cash tables when the connection dropped. It wouldn't reconnect and I opened stars and connected immediately.
Full Tilt has been pretty buggy lately. The just went through a big softward upgrade AFAIK.
EDIT: A bunch of 2+2ers experienced the same thing
FTP was getting DDoS'd (Distributed Denial of Service) attacked recently... maybe its happening again.
Tell me about it. No Fulltilt access for a week and counting. One email from security so far. I fucking hate them.

Play at Stars, duh
