  • hmmm...i had an entire month like that for the first time in my poker career a couple months ago...i stopped playing for a while and then moved down in limits as my confidence wasn't where it should have been

only comment on the hand is that I open push or fold there, don't see much of a point in the 3bb raise
  • Yeah.. I know shoulda pushed there...

I'll take a break... think I need one I've been tilting a little for the past few days ...
  • a break does wonders for your game, i am going through the same thing for the last 2 weeks also on pokerstars, get away from rigged stars and play on a site that has not as many people playing on it.

but luckily for you your not getting staked like i am and feel twice as bad cause your running into situations like these.
  • you have a backer? what stakes do you play? my friend (pro) has a backer for all his mtts over $300
  • a backer?!?
  • or you could say backers, a couple of pnl'ers started their own staking business online, you can play whatever limits or games you want, post your stake and see if people will back you, put in what percentage you want to give to them and timelines and such and go for it, i just completed my 2nd stake and luckily i just finished 2nd in a 11.00 buyin 18 man sit n go, so we all came out even after my horrible run i was talking about in previous post, i actually would have made money if i did not freakin bubble so many times.

the main site is pokerstars they use (ugh and yuk), but you can use full tilt as well.

one person actually has a stake up for people to back him in a 1500 buy in wsop event, but you have to be a member of this site for awhile and have the owners permission before you can get staked in a live wsop event.

  • ooops one more thing

i am doing it just to get a better bankroll and try slightly higher buyins, again its probably not for everyone.
  • A backer for a $11. sit'n'go? lol... I never realized there was such a thing.... I understand it for big stakes but even at $300. I don't understand it. If you are a winning player why get a backer and give away a %, if not a winning player why would anyone back such a person?
  • Well, my buddy is currently 10th in Canada online MTT player and I know his results/income -- he still does not have an appropriate bankroll to sit at 500-1k MTTs on a regular basis, so he gets staked based on his record which anyone can access on various online MTT sites. This allows you to take bigger shots while minimizing the variance/risk and is very common both online and live at higher stakes.

I'm not sure why anyone would be bankrolled for $11 sngs, but to each his own.
  • don't see much of a point in the 3bb raise

I think an open UTGish push of 425 chips when the blinds are 25/50 is a bit too much*. Hero doesn't mind callers of around 100 chips or so cuz he'll get autocalled by mostly anything on any flop but reserve the right to fold and then open push next time..

Kinda like being able to get a mulligan on your all-in..

    * Not that a push is wrong or anything, but I dont mind the 3bb raise.
  • don't see much of a point in the 3bb raise

I could see it if the backer backs 30 players at the $10 snG level.. his variance decreases and since the skill level is lower at 10 (I assume) he makes more.. I guess it's really dependent on how you negotiate the split.
  • i do it so i dont have to use my own money which is very little since i dont make much money, therefore it is good for me for a opportunity to increase my bankroll, i have only done 2 stakes and have come out even, i have not touched my own bankroll for 2 weeks.

again i dont see the point of 500 buy in sit n gos and plopping thousands of dollars down on a cash table or mtt.

    huh?

i think people do it to make a living at poker
  • Guess I really don't understand this whole playing poker to win money then.. lol. I really believe that there are VERY, VERY few who make money over the long haul if they are really being honest. (Not including everyone on here cuz I'm sure we all are winning players, right?). I'm at a different point in my life I guess, sort of semi-retired, independantly wealthy (well not really but you know what I mean). At least secure financially, don't have to worry about raising kids, kids education, etc. Buyins of any reasonable amount are well within my bankroll, I only have to worry about if I'm a winning player or not... lol... Still not really sure about that although other than the 1st time ($50.) I've never deposited online.. So for a backer, wouldn't he/she want me to prove I'm a long term winner, otherwise why would they back me? If I can prove it, then again, why would I want a backer?... Maybe if you are just taking a "shot" at a higher buyin then ok, but other than that I'll buyin to anything I feel comfortable playing..

exactly my point, i may try a high buy in mtt now and then, but i can do better things with thousands of dollars and not be as stressed.

  • huh what?

or cause their stupid, but in my personal situation i am happy to continually make money and maybe yes get a big score, but i dont see the point of playing like 100 200 cash table or hundreds or thousands of dollars buy in on tourney's, espicially online where its not real poker. why be stressed out when a suckout occurs or just stressed all the time on a poker table at these levels,

i have had enough stress to do me for 2 lifetimes the last six years, i dont need any more tyvm.
