  • I'm interested, but I don't know if you'll find enough interested players from this forum.
  • I may be interested but what date are you going to do this?
  • Sorry Steve. I guess that is an important piece of information.
    Sat Feb 23.

Blondfish, I agree with you but I thought I may as well give it a shot.
I should be able to get 1 full table from my regular group of fish which would not give us enough for the satellite. If that happens we will just play for cash and laughs.
  • I'm planning to play in a home game satellite tonight (February 17), so I can ask the participants if they're interested in your satellite (unless you don't want me to). On February 23, I may be with a few forumers in the early afternoon, so as long as we're done before 8 PM, I'll club them in the head ;) and take them to your satellite.

Sure, sounds good to me, as long as you know them I am sure they will be a a good fit.
So far I have 6 players confirmed so there shouldn't be a problem filling 1 table of 10. I max out at 16 due to lack of space unfortunately.

    What are the rebuy rules:
    - $100 cost for each rebuy?
    - same 5000 chips for each rebuy?
    - can rebuy when less than 5000 chips or only with no chips?
    - unlimited number of rebuys?

If enough players show up to make it a WSOP satellite, will the players get any percentage if the satellite winner makes it to the money?
-$100 + $10 rebuy tourney ($10 goes to Sick Kids Hospital)
Except for the $10 donation to Sick Kids Hospital, does all the money remain in the prize pool?
  • Are you going to run another one later in the year? Too short notice + I'm not even in Canada on the 23rd

    A.Yes
    B. Yes
    C. Must have 0 chips to rebuy. 5000 chips for $100
    D. Unlimited rebuys for the first 4 levels. Then we will break and offer add ons.
    E. No shares since deals are allowed and the winner can decide not to go to the WSOP. Take the money and funnel it back into the local poker community. :)
    F. Yes, only $10 pp is raked and verified paid the to S/K hospital. Last year I raised more than $3000 with my regular games.

Wes. I am going to try to run another game later when I can make the time.

westside8, what dates would you be willing to play in a satellite in Brampton or Mississauga? I'm probably the only forumer who will try to go to esool's quasi-satellite this Saturday. Since there are not enough players in this forum interested in playing in decent satellites, esool, The_Game and STR82ACE may have to combine forces to be able to have a satellite.
  • don't like rebuy tournaments otherwise I would be interested. If you can come up with a decent structure, within the GTA, count me in. Maybe we could piggy back off the free heads-up tournament in a couple of weeks.
  • I would be interested

    Where is the HU tourny?
  • With one $100 rebuy and a $50 add-on, the total buy-in could be $260. The Skill Level of this rebuy tournament is only 4, which is relatively low compared to other forum home games despite the much higher buy-in. esool, are you willing to tweak the blind structure?

    - Having 30-minute blinds would make it a Skill Level 6 tournament (Patience Factor 12.7).
    - Delay the antes until the rebuy period is over, i.e., make Level 4 100/200+0; or insert a 25/25 level at the beginning.

pokerJAH, you haven't gone to any of The_Game's Skill Level 6 freezeout satellites, so I'm doubtful if esool changing to a freezeout format with an even higher buy-in will attract any more forumers to make it a satellite.
  • I'll let you know by later this week, I might be free that night.

I would have no problem with "B" and I could even remove the antes entirely as well as adding one more level in the early stages, but the 30 min. blinds would make this tourney drag on too long I fear.
Since the game starts at 8pm I would think the ideal time for it to finish would be around 2am-ish.
Unfortunately I do not have the time to run a day time game at this point.

If you think about it, with any of the blinds suggested, this game should be considered a freezeout for any of the more solid players. Unless a decent player runs into some bad luck he/she should not need to rebuy. The add on is almost a no brainer though. This is why I always bring more money than I am willing to lose. ;) The bad luck factor.

In any event I did not expect this game would attract many of the forumners because of the buy in, location and the rebuy format. I realize this game is the opposite of what the majority here prefer but I thought it was worth a shot anyway.
I could run a freezeout but with the capacity of only 16 players the buy in would need to be $200, which I think would be even less favourable by the masses.
  • I would expect the tournament to end on or before level 13, which means up to 6.5 hours even with 30-minute blinds. With only 8-16 players and a deal allowed, it could end well before 2 AM. Anyway, this tournament is a better value than travelling to the Turning Stone or Point Edward Casino tournaments, so it is a no-brainer for me to sign up.

esool, please PM me your address, directions and phone number. Thanks.

  • PM sent.
I posted the new blinds in the O.P. with the old ones.

I added a level 10, adjusted 12 and removed the blinds.

    Now wots the skill level?

Not til the summer..so April onwards..
  • Sorry guys but I am going to cancel this game.
It is Thursday night and I do not have enough committed players. I have a lot of maybes, probablys and the checks are in the mail.

I will try to host another one, perhaps March 15 and will give more notice this time.

    Thanks for the interest.
