Brag: won my first live tournament

Underground tournament Saturday night. $220 buy-in with one $100 rebuy/add-on, 45 players. 1st paid $5000.

(just to clarify - it was my first live win, not my first live tournament. I'm not THAT good...)

Oh, and all_aces (if that is your real name), bring it. ;)

    don't recall hearing an underground tournament with rebuys; do they have freeze outs on any other nights of the week? if so, please PM me the details. Nice score for sure!

    Ah I heard that was a good tourney...I was out in Niagara otherwise I would have played. That place is amazing action, I usually play the 5-5 game there regularly..and their wednesday games...(if we are talking about the same place)

    Congratulations, Arnoldus. Do you remember what the blind schedule was? I was playing in a Skill Level 6 tournament on the weekend. I told a friend about it and he won the tournament on his first try!

    There was another Skill Level 6 tournament during yesterday's holiday, but I went to a rake-free cash game instead. I'm interested in any Skill Level 6 tournament, so to Arnoldus, all_aces, blackmagicz, etc., please PM me about any decent tournaments.

    Most of the tourneys there are 250.00 buy ins with 1 addon or rebuy for 150.00

    They start with 7500 chips and blinds go up every 25 minutes....well run tournies...plus the cash games afterwards are great :)

    Is the rake something like $10 max? Don't you have a higher win rate at the casinos' 5/5 games (~$120/hour/table vs. clubs' $200+ rake/hour)? I have been finding out about all these clubs with 2/5+ games with $10+ max. rake, but I don't see how going to any of them would be more profitable than going to Fallsview or Seneca Casino ($5 max).

    Yeah you could be correct with the rake but I am not that sure. I will check next time I am over there and report back.

    I can't drive up to niagara during the week to play so if I do want to get a session in I have to go underground.

    I also find underground games much faster and better run than when I am up at Fallsview playing due to the experience of the dealers.
