Busted?

I know AJ says he is no longer here but we need to discuss the blinds.

Out of the last 4 games it has become a total push fest. I wasn't joking last game when I suggested that we just deal a high card to determine the winner of the game.

The current structure is

5-10
10-20
20-40
30-60
50-100 (push fest begins)
75-150
100-200
200-400
300-600

This needs to be addressed and there is no skill and it becomes a card catching contest.

The original structure had a 15-30, and a 150-300.

The 150-300 has gone completely and it used to be around.

The game should be approx. 3 ½ hours but even with 14 players it is lucky to be 3 hours.

  • you do have a good point Chris.

Here ia the blind structure I use to use when I ran a $1000 starting chips tournament.

    5-10
    10-20
    15-30
    20-40
    break and chip race ($5)
    25-50
    50-100
    75-150
    100-200
break if players wanted one and chip race ($25)
    200 -400
    300-600
    400-800

I ran 16 Tournaments in Season 1 and here is where most ended

    300 - 600 = 8
    200 - 400 = 3
    100 - 200 = 2
    400 - 800 = 2
    500 - 1000 = 1 (24 players)

if you do 20mins blinds with 1 10min break and the Tourny ended in the 300 - 600 level you are looking at 3hrs 10mins to 3hrs 30mins for the total tournament.

    so what does everyone think???
  • I'll say: Lets give it a try....

Steve has tested it out and he says it works then I don't see why it could not work at the Ching Hill...

    Again, you have my vote.

  • I know I haven't been playing for a bit, but how long do you want it to go? As I recall it ran pretty late (at least for those of us who get up at 4 am) for a weeknight. Steve's tourney's are run on saturdays where I (sometimes) get to sleep in and very occassionally Aimee. When I run tourney's it's a saturday afternoon and run very casual blinds. But almost every tourney becomes a pushfest at somepoint as the blinds will catch up with someone.

3 and 1/2 hours is not too long for a game, but they are barely making it to 3 hours.

I play in another game that also starts at 8 and ends usually after 11:30 and there is lots of play up until around the 11:30 mark when it becomes a push fest
