PPL Poker Olympics

I know a number of forumers played in the last Pirana ran poker Olympics and wanted to share that the next Poker Olympics being held in KW will be on December 9th. It is ran by the Players Poker League www.pokerppl.ca and by the same person (Craig and Mel) that ran the Pirana based tournament.

I plan on putting a team into this event.

You can contact Craig at this email address to play: craig@pokerppl.ca

Here is the link to the last forum thread regarding the previous Poker Olympics http://www.pokerforum.ca/showthread.php?t=11151&highlight=olympics

Last time we won our way into the Grand Championship for the piranah league and the rocks won their way in to another tourney (full house frenzy?). It was a fun afternoon. I played like a donk, but easy and Mrs. Pokerdro more than made up for me. Dominating the final table in NL hold'em.

No fight necessary, it will be a walk over for the Rocks, I just got a message from Craig, he says that the Dec 9th team event will include a H.O.R.S.E SNG.
Should be made to order for us..
  • Hey Guys,

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of you back to challenge the Olympics again. Here are the details for this years event:
Sunday December 9th [start time tba, probably around noon]
    4 Player Teams
    1 Player for Omaha [hi]
    1 Player for Stud [hi]
    1 Player for Heads-up
1 Player for HORSE [true fashion]

All players play the no-limit holdem tournament to follow

The Olympic medals will be handed out again plus winning team takes seats to the Players Poker League Cup and 2nd and 3rd place teams take seats to the Invitational Tournament.

Details will be posted on our website as we get closer to the event. www.pokerppl.ca

  • Hey Players,

Just an update, the December 9th date is firmed. We're probably going with an 11 am start time although as we're just finishing off Season 1, I've been really busy with all the playoffs and getting Season 2 going but I will firm up the schedule and keep our page updated as I get time for it [ http://www.pokerppl.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=68&Itemid=96 ]

And as for the question about prizing, as there is absolutely no money involved in this event and currently no sponsors, we are going to be giving seats to our Season 2 championships [mostly just bragging rights in those unless we get sponsors which I'm hoping for] and of course, we'll be spending money on the medals like we did this time.

While there is no money to be won, this is a fun and challenging event and I would hope that if you truly love the game, you would overlook the lack of financial gain and embrace the challenge of this type of event for what it is and still think about putting a team in.

Teams should register with me prior to Dec 6th by email at craig@pokerppl.ca with team name, and all players full first and last names.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
  • I'll be asking people tonight as well but anyone wanting to put a team together with me? Should be good times, guaranteed!

  • If you're looking for a team but unable to put one together, show up around 10:30 and we'll be putting teams together with the remainder of people on a first come first served basis based on game choice.

It's a great tournament and very challenging. If anyone has any questions or problems, feel free to email me at craig@pokerppl.ca or msn as Solace015@hotmail.com or phone at 519-572-8672
  • What happened with it. I would have liked to play but work etc didn't allow it, as I enjoyed myself last year. Did any forumers play?
