Bristol Street 2007 Summer Shoot-out - RESULTS!!!

The summer of 2007 brought with it a new format to the Bristol Street Casino; a Short-handed shoot-out tournament. Six tables would play down to a winner and those six people would join up for the Final Table.

Over the last two weeks, six players made their way to that Final Table, and a draw with $10,000 chips each but players at the following location.

FINAL TABLE

Seat 1: "Zithal" Rob
Seat 2: "Redington" Tyson
Seat 3: "TwoThree" Braad
Seat 4: "Moose" Rob
Seat 5: "sstar" Sean
Seat 6: David R-F

Play started cautious as no player needed to make a move early with hundreds of BB's in their stack and everyone so closely matched in chips. In fact, it wasn't until the 150/300 level that we lost our first player.

6th Place: "TwoThree" Braad - 8:33pm ($35)

Moose raised to 900 which Braad called. On a flop of KQT, Braad pushed in for about 5,800 and moose made the easy call holding the nuts; AJ. Braad turned over K8 and needed runner to stay alive. The board bricked and we had our first elimination of the night.

5th Place: Dave R-F - 9:47pm ($50)

Action continue for quite a while, until, a flop of Ad8h9h, Tyson pushed with AQ and Dave called with JTh for the open-ended straight flush draw. Dave missed a ka-gillion outs and was sent packing in 5th place. A great outing for his first Bristol Street.

4th Place: "moose" Rob - 10:38pm ($70)

With four players left, Tyson was first to act and made is 1,600 at the 300-600 level. Moose pushed over-top for an additional 5,800, and Sean went into the tank. Sean was the chip leader at that moment and finally decided to re-push. Tyson laid down his AQ face up and Sean showed TT. Sadly, for Tyson, the Queen did hit, but Rob's 3 did not come and was ousted in 4th place. Momentum is on moose's side with this win moving him into 3rd place in the PoY race.

3rd Place: "Zithal" Rob - 10:54 ($105)

On the button, and with blinds at 400-800, Zithal made it 1,800 with TT. Sean, in the BB called and players saw a flop of 42J. Sean checked and Zithal bet 4,000 into the pot. Sean push, forcing Zithal to make a decision for all his chips. He made the call and Sean tabled 88. The turn, an extremely cruel 8, sent Zithal packing in 3rd place. This finish moves Zithal from 8th to 5th in the PoY race with at least a 4th place finish in the Heads-Up tournament still looming.

HEADS-UP

"sstar" Sean - $35,800
"Redington" Tyson - $24,200

Blind rose to 500-100 and action was slow and deliberate with Tyson taking some early pots and Sean taking latter ones. With a limp pre-flop, the players saw a board of 434 and the action went check-check. A 3 fell on the turn and Tyson bet 1,000 to which Sean called. The river was a T and Tyson bet 4,000. Sean made it 9,000 and Tyson push. Sean called and showed K4 while Tyson had K3. Tyson was behind in chips and with that hand, "sstar" wins $280, the title of Bristol Street 2007 Summer Shoot-out champion and gets a place reserved in the GRAND FINAL. This was Sean first title at Bristol Street, so congradulations on a well earned victory!!

Tyson, for second place, earned $160. In a funny side note, Zithal won the Quad-9 jackpot of $4.25 (at is was won last by Tyson on Day 1A!)

  • Forgot to mention another funny fact about the finals. The finals (with 10,000 chips each) was actually shorter than one of the Day 1x tables (4,000 chips each).

While most of the Day 1 tournaments ended around the 200-400 level, the marathon match which ended with Sstar and DataMn headsup when well into the 600-1,200 level.

The finals? 10 minutes into the 500-1,000 level and it was over. :)
  • That heads up with DataMn Al was really tough. We kept getting back to even whenever one would take a chip lead.

Playing Tyson was a bit shorter only because of both of us Turning a boat on that final hand I think. Also, a little earlier I had slow played a flopped str8 which helped move some chips to my stack. Good game Tyson.

I liked the shootout format, hopefully you do another one. Thanks again for hosting and dealing at the end.
