Bristol St. present.. "Casual Friday" - Jun 8th, 7pm - Waterloo
Come out and join us for an evening of casual, fun, non-serious poker. There is usually a game that starts at 7pm for those that show, then people can break in whatever game(s) they choose as they bust out.
The opening games marks the return of one of the more insane Bristol Street formats, "Chaos Hold'em" (rules below)
In addition, there will be a live drawing for the brackets in the 2007 Bristol Street Heads-up Championship. (results will be posted online soon after)
Low limit cash games, low limit SnG's and a delivery from Pepi's are usually part of the fun, so please let me know if you'd like to come so I have a rough idea of the numbers.
Who's coming? (15-17 player(s) so far); "Zithal", "DrTyore", "ItsaMe", "TwoThree", "Pokerdro", "Mirmir", "labeach", "Ranger", "moose"?, "waltsfriend", "DataMn", "MrsDataMn", "Kristy_Sea", "stpboy", "westside"?, "g2", "ryan_yo"

Chaos hold'em is played like a normal tournament, starting with the structure of a regular No-Limit Hold'em tournament. $2 gets you $1,500 chips, you may spend $2 to re-buy for $1,500 if you bust out in the first three levels, and there is a one-time $2 add-on for $2,000 chips at the end of level three.
Before the players post blinds and antes for the hand, the dealer rolls a d100 (can be done with two ten sided dice) and some additional effect is added to the game for this hand, after consulting the table below. Most effects will only last for the hand being played. To keep the game moving, the cutoff (or an eliminated player) will roll the dice and read the result while the dealer shuffles.
If NEW GAME is rolled, then players then roll a d10 and consult the NEW GAME section. The New games is played for a single hand, using the adjust blinds, limits and/or antes listed below.
The JACKPOT is a common pool of chips added to by each table in play. (ie. There's only one jackpot in play for the whole tournament.) The tournament can end with chips still left in the jackpot. The tournament starts with $3,000 chips in it.
If any rule causes you to bust, before the cards are dealt, you get one SB. If a rule causes you to bust after the hand has finished, you also get one SB.
If you bust out and are in a "Dead" position (SB or button), you stay in your seat and, if given chips due to a roll, you're back in!! (This will not happen when moving from 3 players remaining to 2)

asdfsad
I'm in for some fun....
Also, tentatively sign up my wife (Jenna), I've convinced her to come out to one of the 'fun' events ;-)
Al
My money is on Braad or Mario for this one though...
If I come, I might miss the first level..(assuming 20 minutes level)
If I make it I'll probably get my roommate to drop me off so I can enjoy a few cold ones

But I have a question. If anyone has a bit of time before tonight can they give a very brief explanation of what the following games are? Just incase we end up playing one I'd like to have a minor idea of whats going on.
4: Limit RAZZ (SL=BB, BL=2xBB, AN=SB/5(rnddown), BI=2xAN)
5: Insane Pinapple (blinds as before)
6: Badugi (SL=BB, BL=2xBB, blinds as before)
8: Limit Duece to Seven lowball (three draws, SL=BB, BL=2xBB, blinds as before)
9: Limit Blind man's bluff (SL=BB, BL=2xBB, blinds as before)

Rob, I may not be able to make it tonight.
It will be a game time decision. I'm headed into TO for the day.
Probably later in the night
Sure!
RAZZ is basically 7 card studd (same betting and the same streets are dealt), only you're looking to play the worst 5 card hand (flushes and straights don't count). So, the "best" RAZZ hand in A2345xx
Insane Pinaplle - Hold'em variant where everyone gets three cards and, once the flop is dealt, starting with the SB, everyone discards one card face up.
Badugi - A draw game where everyone is given 4 card, followed by a raound of betting. You may discard 1-4 cards, or stand pat, then there's another around of betting. A second a third draw are followed by two more rounds of betting, then players open up to see who wins. You're trying to get the best low hand, with the added rule that, in order to use all four cards, they all must be of different suits and values.
So, the best Badugi hand (what we refer to as the "Royal Badugi", is A234 rainbow. If, in that hand two of those cards match suit (ie. Ah2d3c4d, you only have a three card Badgui (A23). Any four card badugi beats every three card badugi. (i.e 3d9hTcKs (rainbow), is a better than that Ah2d3c4d)
Do a search on badugi and you'll get a better idea of the rules.
Blind man's bluff - Another Hold'em variant with limit betting. Everyone is dealt to card and you hold them up to your forehead so that everyone, but you, can see your cards. (ie. you know what everyone else has, but you don't know what your own cards are) Bet as normal.
see you tonight
Done. If you're not there, your first three hands will be all-in, and I'll assume that you will re-buy if you bust.
It'll be good to see you again!
In other news, I was REALLY hoping that the cool weather of the last few days would stick around, but it's already feeling warmer. Dress light, and I'll see about getting some fans hooked up. Based on current attendance, I'm only going to be running two tables downstairs (which we'll make 9 handed if we get up to 18 players.
Badugi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Rob!
Blinds 600/1200. 4 handed. Dice were rolled and I was forced to put in 10% of my stack (7000) into the pot before the cards were dealt. Mark pushed UTG for ~40K and I see A5h. I ended up calling because I figured his range was huge. Because of the dead money in the pot, it was conceivable for him to push with essential any two cards, but for the sake of the hand, I put him on any two paint, which will theoritically make my call correct (at least I think). However, the other side of the argument is that Ax is such a weak hand that I'm at best flipping (or a 55/45 advantage) for 2/3 of my chips, and I'm at a position where it was a flip or I'm drawing thin and there is a better spot for me to get my money in.
Was that a good/bad call?
