Bristol St. Classic XXXIII - Results!!

The fourth event of the 2007 season brought back a few older faces and lots of the usual regulars. As like the last couple tournaments, one alternate, who entered at 7:34pm, when "haddon" Josh was eliminated, created a field of 33 players. This made the 16th position the "points bubble", and the honour of that finish went to "Ercules" Eric.

The rest of the tournament was quick and speedy, with players no longer content to sit and wait til their stacks get blinded off. In the earliest final table in recent Bristol Street history, "Oragami" Jonathan was eliminated in 10th place at 10:27pm, just before the break to colour out the green (25) chips and the final table was formed.

FINAL TABLE

Seat 1: "Big Daddy" Paul ($19,300)
Seat 2: "Kristy_Sea" Kristy ($5,100)
Seat 3: "SirWatts" Mike ($4,200)
Seat 4: "dgangsta" Tim ($11,100)
Seat 5: "PokerQueen" Mandy ($8,800)
Seat 6: "Ranger" Mike ($23,300)
Seat 7: "beanie42" Trevor ($36,900)
Seat 8: "stpboy" Shannon ($13,600)
Seat 9: "800Over" Nik ($9,700)

With blinds at the final table starting at 400-800 (100), there was a ton of action left in play, though some people would need to make a move soon.

9th Place: "dgangsta" Tim - 10:49pm

Just a few minutes into the final table and with a pre-flop raise to 3,200 and a board showing 65Q, Tim pushes all-in, which is called by Paul, verbally stating he's likely behind. Paul shows A5 for bottom pair, while Tim is in lead withTT. The 3 on the turn improves Tim's position, but an Ace falls on the river, giving the hand to Paul and eliminating Tim in 9th place. This hand would give Paul a pile of chips that he's use akin to a large club for the rest of the tournament.

8th Place: "SirWatts" Mike - 11:01pm

Though the short stack coming into the final table, Mike's final Bristol for the foreseeable future (until he wins multiple WPT and WSOP events and offers to fly us all out and host a Bristol in Las Vegas..) ended with a three-way hand which left him crippled and a final stack of 2,200 and a hand of A9 v. Trevor's KT. Trevor's favorite hand would not do bad by him as the flop camKTx. No more help and the Bristol Street 2006 GRAND CHAMPION was out in 8th place. We wish "SirDonk" much success in his future poker career!

7th Place: "stpboy" Shannon - 11:06pm

With his own stack dwindling, Shannon raised to 3,100 with QT, only to have Paul push all-in for a little more. Shannon calls and Paul rolls overKQ for the dominating hand. The board run out, showing 7742A and Shannon is out in 7th place. The 2005 GRAND CHAMPION was appearing at his second final table of 2007.

6th Place: "800Over" Nik - 11:25pm - (BUBBLE-BOY)

As the blinds raised to 500-1,000(100), played slowed a bit as the money bubble loomed. Nik and his small stack quickly become the one to watch and an all-in move with 5T was called by Paul who showed 44. The board bricked out onNik and he became our official Bristol Street XXXIII Bubble-Boy! This was Nik's first final table of the season.

5th Place: "Kristy_Sea" Kristy - 11:34pm - $30

In the money and two women left at the final table set the stage for perhaps a second all female heads-up match in a row. This was not to be however as the defending champion, Kristy, winner of Omaha Open 2, went down next. With blinds now at 600-1,200(200), Kristy made it 3,600 with 88 and was called by Trevor. The flop came 9A4, and Trevor immediately moved all-in having Kristy covered. After a long period of mulling the hand over, Kristy couldn't put Trevor on an Ace and called all-in. Trevor rolled over A2, and no 8 came to save Kristy, eliminating her in 5th place.

4th Place: "PokerQueen" Mandy - 12:03pm - $65

The lone remaining Queen at the table was the next to go as Paul raised to 4k, Mandy pushed all-in and Paul called. Mandy showed 44, Paul showedAJ and the race was on! The 7T6 flop put Mandy ahead, needing now to avoid an Ace or a Jack. The turn brought a T meaning that now her small pair was vulnerable to beingcounterfeited. The 6 on the river double-paired the board and Paul's Ace kicker proved to be the winning hand. Mandy was out in 4th place at her first final table of the 2007 season!

3rd Place: "beanie42" Trevor - 12:20am - $100

Three players remained, with Trevor and Paul as the big stacks to Mike's shorter stack. Mike was looking for his first title, Trevor his second (BSC XVIII) and Paul his third (VII, XI). The blinds rose to 1,000-2,000(300) and the following hand was dealt. Paul raised to 5,000pre-flop and was called by Trevor. The flop came 639 and Trevor moved all-in which was insta-called by Paul. Trevor showed 86 for middle pair, while Paul rolled over AJ . With Trevor covered, the Ace on the turn gave Paul the lead, and the Q on the river knocked Trevor out in 3rd place. While, on the surface, it seemed like akrazy insta -call with only Ace high, speaking to both players really put into light the mind games that were going on at and before this hand that made it possible. Trevor, finally making it past the first break, finishes in 3rd place.

HEADS-UP

"Big Daddy" Paul ($98,300)
"Ranger" Mike ($33,700)

With nearly a 3 to 1 chips leads and blinds the lowest they've been for a heads-up battle in aged, we settled in for a long battle. Itlastest 8 minutes. In that time Paul played his stack very aggressively, and quickly knocked 20k off of Mike's stack. His last $13,000 went into the pot with A2d and Paul called with J5h. The flop cameTd 3h 8h giving Paul a flush draw for the win. The 7c on the turn added a gut-shot straight draw to his outs and Mike needed to dodge 18 cards to double up. One of those outs, the 9s, came on the river, giving Paul the straight, knocking Mike out of the tournament. Paul, for his first place effort earned $300, a seat into the 2007 GRAND FINAL and his third title; "Bristol Street Classic XXXIII Champion". Mike's second place finish of the year, his third final table and second cash earned him $165 and moves him, for the moment, into first for the Player of the Year race.

Small correction. I checked the flop, Paul bet 5000, and I check-raised all-in for another 28k.
  • Great night! Just a smaller correction...

I pushed with 55, Paul called with 44 and then Mandy beat him into the pot with QQ.....he flopped a 4 and Mandy turned a Q....and so ended my night.
  • I write things down good.
