    You may have been able to steal the pot on the turn when a scare card hit, but there really isn't anything scary about the river.

  • Yep... your story didn't add up. OK, it's PLAUSIBLE that you could be holding a five and saving your big move for the river, but it's unlikely. Basically, it looked like you were drawing or you hit a pair of sixes or sevens, and that's the read that your opponent went with.

    I can't entirely blame you for the river play, though... the only way you were going to win the pot was to raise, and your opponent hadn't exactly shown a massive amount of strength. He played his kings well given the number of opponents and the texture of the board.

    Your preflop play is fine IMO... doesn't show any particular lack of discipline.
  • I agree with the comments above, but I think in actual fact this player is probably the player that still doesnt know how to play AA or KK and will call any bets to the river.
  • I also, after further review, agree with the comments above. I actually didn't see that a 5 made a straight on the turn. I should have made my bet then however I could have been called all the way down regardless.
